Seeking Advice on 2018 Lexus NX Electric Faults and AC Error Message

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

General electric malfunction

Hey everyone, I'm having a bit of a pickle with my 2018 Lexus NX with a Gasoline engine. It's been acting weird lately, throwing general electric faults and lighting up warning signs on the speedometer. I'm thinking it might be tied to an AC message error, but I'm not entirely sure. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how did you locked down the problem? What solutions did your workshop come up with? Would love to hear about your experiences fixing this issue. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, It seems like you're in a spot of bother with your Lexus NX. I had a similar problem with my 2016 Lexus RX a couple of years back. I'd say I have some experience when it comes to cars, but I'm no mechanic. As for the issue you've mentioned, my workshop traced it back to the Cold shut-off valve, apparently it was defective. Theyaged to rectify it and get my ride back on track without charging me, mainly because it was under warranty. It's hard to say if it's exactly the same issue with yours. For a clearer picture, can you provide some more info, like any specific error codes you're getting? This info would really help in figuring out what's going wrong. Cheers!

Hey, appreciate your response! In fact, I do recall seeing a couple of cryptic codes on my dashboard but unfortunately, didn’t think to jot them down. Next time it happens, and I'm sure it will as it seems pretty recurrent, I'll make sure to note them down properly. On a side note, my last service was done at around 44,363 KM, a little while before this whole situation started. Maybe something went amiss during maintenance? Not really sure here. Thanks again for pointing me in some direction though, I'll definitely ask my mechanic to check the Cold shut-off valve. Take care!

No worries! As for the service issue, I highly doubt they would have messed something up, especially if it's a dealer service. They are generally pretty thorough but hey, who knows? About jotting down those codes, yeah, absolutely do that. They're like secret messages that your car is sending out, very helpful in troubleshooting. One more thing, my NX did have a minor software glitch once, which caused general electric faults. It was not throwing out any specific codes, it just went bonkers. My mechanic had collected all the info regarding my case and sent it to Lexus for further consultation. The response from their tech support suggested a software update. I did that, and things went back to normal. So yeah, communication errors between sophisticated computer systems may cause these vehicles to display incorrect fault messages. This could also be another possibility alongside the Cold shut-off valve. Anyway, fingers crossed for you! Be sure to let us know what your mechanic finds. Cheers!

G'day! Yeah, their service is usually spot on, you're right about that. Still, the timing is a bit peculiar, don't you think? You're also bang on about those codes. I’ve realized I've been neglecting them, just ignoring the help they could provide. Definitely not gonna make that mistake again. Oh, and I hadn't even considered that it could be a software issue. That's a really good point. I'll definitely get that checked out, too. So it seems like I have a number of things to take up with my mechanic - the cold shut-off valve, checking for any software issues, decoding some error codes. Sounds like a full shopping list but at least I have some clue about what to ask for now, thanks to you. Appreciate your help! I’ll let you know what I find out. Cheers!
