Seeking Advice on 2018 Lexus LC Hybrid Shaking, Check Engine Light, and Jerky Acceleration Issues

Shaking while idling

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Hey! I've got a slight issue with my 2018 Lexus LC Hybrid. Recently it's been shaking when idling, the check engine light's on, and I've noticed it jerks when accelerating. I've got a sneaky suspicion it could be a problem with the throttle valve but I'm not 100% sure. Has anyone had a similar issue and got it sorted out at a workshop? How was your experience and what did they do to fix it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, sounds like a familiar tale. I had a similar problem with my 2016 Lexus RC F Sport a couple of years back. I don't claim to be an expert - in fact, I've got low experience when it comes to car repairs. However, I remember the symptoms you're describing. Went to my local workshop and they found out it was the accelerator pedal module that was defective. Some electronics inside were messed up. He sorted that out and it cost me around 265€. Like magic, no more shaking or jerking. It might be worth having your Lexus checked for the same issue. Could you tell us more about the mileage and any mods on your vehicle? I'm sure that info would help us brainstorm even further. Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks for the response. My Lexus is pretty much stock, no major modifications. I did some minor interior upgrades but I doubt they would affect the engine or its behaviour. Regarding the mileage, she's only traveled around 52,425KM, normally serviced and last checked just a couple of months ago. I wasn't aware of the accelerator pedal module issue you mentioned, but now it's definitely something I'll look into. I'll head to my local workshop soon and see if they can spot the problem. Fingers crossed it’s nothing major!

Oi thanks for replying! Your case sounds pretty like mine. Keep in mind, usually the throttle does not get faulty that easily, especially in Toyota's manufacturing (Lexus, as you know, is the luxury brand under Toyota). Your car's symptoms are pretty textbook with a defective accelerator pedal module that I experienced. Your mileage is more than enough for such an issue to show up. And you've mentioned no major engine-related mods, same as mine. Remember, the defective module may not send the right signal to the engine, causing it to react in unstable ways -including, yes, the shaking, jerking, and that cheeky engine light. Do bring it up when you go for the check-up. A good mechanic will definitely look into it. Just sharing my two cents based on my past experience. Hope you can get yours sorted out without breaking the bank! Let us know how it goes. Drive safe!

You've given me a solid lead to pursue. I wasn't even aware of this accelerator pedal module issue, but it makes sense given what I've been experiencing. I appreciate your input and yeah, I'm hoping it's nothing too severe and won't cost me an arm and a leg. I'll be sure to bring up the accelerator pedal module issue to my mechanic and see what they say about it. Anyhow, I'll keep you guys posted once I get it checked. Thanks again!
