Seeking Advice on 2016 Lexus IS Blower Issues and AC Control Panel Defects

Blower does not work properly

Hey fellow car enthusiasts, I've been struggling with an issue on my 2016 Lexus IS (Gasoline, with about 48,400 km on its wheels). The blower's been acting up and I'm suspecting it's a defect in the AC control panel. Have any of you had a similar problem? And how did your mechanic handle it? My last visit to the garage wasn't exactly a five star one, so I could really use your input before I go back. Would appreciate any advice you can give. Cheers!

Hey there, Your issue sounds similar to what I experienced with my 2013 Lexus GS a while back. Noticed my AC acting up and traced it down to a defective cable connection. Turned out the cable that connected to the AC control panel was loose causing erratic responses from the blower. Annoying issue, but thankfully not a serious one. The fellas at the garage took their time, fiddled around a bit, and eventually got to the bottom of it. They needed to adjust and secure the cable connection, tweak some settings on the control board, and voila! No more temperamental AC. It wasn't a quick fix, required a number of tools and some technical know-how, but it did the trick. So yeah, it might indeed be the AC control panel in your case as well. Have your guys at the workshop check and tighten all cable connections, sometimes that's all it takes. Good luck! You'll be back to cool rides in no time. Cheers!

Hey, thanks for the helpful advice! Sounds like I might be dealing with a similar issue to what you had with your Lexus GS. Your explanation makes sense and I'll definitely pass it on to the garage guys next time I swing by. Out of curiosity, do you recall roughly how much the repair set you back? Also, has anything else related to this cropped up since the repair? Here's to hoping it's a one-and-done fix, eh? Cheers!

Hey! Ah yes, the good ol' money part! Well, if memory serves right, the repair tallied up to round about 210€. That covered sortin' out the defective cable connection, no more, no less. As for anything else popping up, since the repair? Naw! She's been running smooth as silk. The control panel hasn't given me any more grief since the trip to the workshop. Pretty confident it'll be a one-and-done fix for you too, fingers crossed. So yeah, just mention that possibility to your fellas at the garage. Keeping my fingers crossed for ya. You'll soon be chillin' in your Lexus again, I'm sure. Cheers!

That's great to hear! I'm glad your GS has been running smoothly post-repairs. Hearing about your experience and the cost definitely put me at ease. That 210€ does sound reasonable considering it takes care of the whole problem. I'm feeling more positive about heading back to the garage now. I'll make sure to mention about checking cable connections to the control panel, and hopefully, it'll be a swift fix. Thanks again for your time, advice, and for those luck-filled crossed fingers of yours! Here's to chillin' in my Lexus sooner rather than later, eh? Cheers and keep those wheels spinning!
