Seeking Advice on 2016 Hyundai H1 Cold Start Issue and Possible Battery Sensor Malfunction

Car won't start

Weak battery when starting the engine

Longer cold start time

Hey, got a bit of a puzzler with my 2016 Hyundai H1, Gasoline engine. It's been having longer cold start times than usual and sometimes won't start at all. Plus, the battery seems weak when I try to start the engine. I've got a hunch that it might be a battery sensor malfunction but could use your expertise to confirm. Has anyone else faced the same issue? What have your workshops done to fix it? Any advice would be appreciated!

Hey there, had a similar issue with my 2014 Hyundai iLoad. I'm no expert but I've got some experience with cars. My workshop found a defective battery sensor microprocessor. It was draining power and causing long startup times, even preventing the car from starting sometimes. They replaced it and it set me back by 315 Euro. You might be dealing with the same issue. Anyhow, could you share more info about your H1? Maybe your mileage, any recent changes or repairs, stuff like that. It could help pinpoint the issue.

Hey, cheers for the suggestion! I've got very low mileage on my H1, currently sitting at just 9685 KM and I keep it well-serviced too. Last service was a couple of months back and everything was fine. No recent changes or major repairs. Your battery sensor microprocessor issue sounds pretty similar to what I've been experiencing. I'll definitely get that checked at the workshop. Thanks a ton for the advice!

Hey, no worries, happy to help out! Given your low mileage and regular maintenance, it really does sound like the battery sensor could be the culprit. The microprocessor could very well be draining the battery, leading to the issues you're experiencing. Mine started acting up around 15,000 KM. Just remember, it might not be the cheapest repair, but it'll be worth it, trust me. In case it's not the sensor, consider getting your battery and alternator checked out too, just to cover all bases. Let me know what you find out! Fingers crossed, it's a simple fix.

Brilliant, thank you for the heads up about the repair cost, I'll keep that in mind. I'll get the workshop to cover all bases and check my battery and alternator as suggested. They might be involved somehow. I sure hope it's a simple fix as you mentioned, don't really want any more headaches. Will update when I get some word from the workshop. Thanks heaps for taking the time to help, really appreciate it!
