Seeking Advice on 2016 Fiat Freemont Shaking While Idling and Jerking During Acceleration

Jerking on acceleration

Check engine light on

Shaking while idling

Hey all, been having a tricky issue with my 2016 Fiat Freemont, Gasoline engine. It's been shaking when idling, the check engine light is on, and it's jerking during acceleration. My guess is, it's got something to do with the throttle valve, but I'm not entirely sure. Has anyone encountered something like this before? Really curious about your experiences - especially looking for insights on what you had repaired in the workshop, and how it ended up going for you. Cheers!

Hey, interesting one you got there. I had something similar happening with my 2014 Fiat 500, petrol-burner too. Now, I ain't no car guru but I do know my way around an engine bit, you know, some experience. Anyway, here's what happened: I took my Fiat 500 to my usual workshop, they're no-nonsense ; always sort me out. They ran diagnostics and lo and behold, it was the accelerator pedal module causing the shakin' and jerkin', some electronics inside went wonky. Set me back 265 Euro, but that did the job, car's been running smooth as butter since then. Wonder if it could be similar for your Freemont? Maybe let us in on any other symptoms or error messages you've gotten? Could help me and others to share more on this. Cheers!

Hey there, appreciate the input! Never thought about the accelerator pedal module, but it sounds like a possibility, mates. Just remember the mileage on my Freemont is 75088 km, and the latest service was a few months ago. No error messages, except for the blinking check engine light. But yeah, there is this slight delay in throttle response when accelerating. Maybe that's related? Anyhow, I'll definitely mention this to my regular mechanic and maybe a little bit of Google will come in handy too. Thanks again, need all the advice I can get! Cheers!

Hey there, glad my suggestion helped a bit. Yeah, the mileage is about right. My Fiat 500 had roughly the same when this drama started. The throttle response delay you mentioned sounds like it could definitely be related. From my experience, and again I ain't no pro, these throttle related issues are often linked with the accelerator pedal module, especially in regard to the jerkin' and shakin' you're experiencing. But remember, it could also be something else like a bad spark plug or even the fuel injectors acting up - all these can potentially mess with the engine's idle and overall performance. Best bet, mention the accelerator pedal module alongside with these to your mechanic, he'll know the best course of action. And don't skip on the diagnostic scan, it's always better to get a clear picture before diving into repairs. Keep us posted on how it turns out, alright? Safe drivin'!

Top! Guess I've got my work cut out for me. Gonna bring it up to my bloke about checking the accelerator pedal module and other bits you mentioned. I've been pondering on the spark plug or fuel injectors as well, so it'll be interesting to explore that further. Diagnostic scan is a must, need to know what's exactly going down under the hood. Will definitely let you know how it all unfolds, fingers crossed it's nothing major. Thanks for the advice, and happy motoring! Cheers!
