Hey! Thanks for the quick response. As for any recent work done, there was just a regular maintenance carried out not long ago. I hadn't seen any unusual signs until these problems started appearing. Regarding the mileage, it's at around 121391 KM. I'm definitely interested in checking out the wiring harness theory. I'm going to schedule an inspection with a mechanic soon but thought it's best to dig around a bit before so I know what I'm dealing with. Any thoughts on whether this could be related to other gear shifting issues? Thanks again for your suggestions!

Hey! Glad to hear that you found my suggestion useful. It's always a good idea to get a professional’s eye on things, they're great at nailing down the exact issue and all. Based on the symptoms and my past experience, I do suspect it’s more than just a mere display fault in your case. Apart from the wiring harness, a worn-out clutch could also contribute to unpredictable gear shifts and grinding noises. That might be something else to look into during the inspection. Flickering gear display could be also due to transmission control module issues, although those symptoms seem to fall right in line with what I saw with my wiring harness problem. Just a tip – when you do take it in for the inspection, make sure they know all symptoms you've been having and anything you noticed around the time they first started. Communication is crucial so they can diagnose the problem correctly. Hope all this info helps! Would love to hear how it turns out for your XTrail. Good luck!

Hey there, Your help has been more insightful than I could've asked for! Great to hear from someone who had similar issues and managed to pin it down. I'll ensure to communicate everything that's been happening with the car when I take it in for the inspection. The theory about the worn-out clutch or transmission control module issues is something I wouldn't have thought of and I'll make sure they are given a thorough look as well. You know what, I'll definitely get back to you once this issue is sorted out. Perhaps my experience might come in handy for you or somebody else here in the future. Again, my sincere thanks to you for taking the time to assist and for all the valuable advice! Fingers crossed for a smooth ride soon! Cheers!

Hey there, I'm a bit of a car enthusiast and I've had a taste of this sort of issue with my 2013 Nissan Qashqai, so it's safe to say I have some experience with this. The symptoms you described are similar to what I've experienced. Turns out, the issue was a faulty wiring harness. Mine was acting up and throwing off all sorts of weird noise and transmission problems. I took my motor to my local workshop, they're pretty good at diagnosing these kind of issues. For a clean 180 Euro, they sorted out the wiring harness and everything turned smooth as butter again. So, I'd suggest getting your wiring looked at as soon as possible. Just out of curiosity, have you done any recent work on your XTrail? Also, can you share a bit more information on your car; such as mileage, regular maintenance, or anything unusual you've noticed? It might help me give a more precise suggestion. Hope this helps! Good luck.
