Hey, thanks for the information! Well, apart from the issues I've already mentioned, I've been noticing that my fuel economy isn't as good as it used to be. As a hybrid, my Lexus used to give me great mileage. Also, I noticed this decrease in fuel efficiency after my last service, which wasn't long ago. My car's mileage is around 57793 KM. From what you've shared, it seems like exhaust leakage might be a part of the problem. I'll head over to my local garage and ask them to do a thorough check of the exhaust system. Fingers crossed, just hoping it doesn't burn a hole in my pocket! Thanks again. Cheers!
Hello again! Yeah, it sounds like these issues are all connected in some way. Remember, vehicles like our hybrids are supposed to have top-notch fuel economy, but that efficiency takes a hit if there's something up within the system. Given all that's happening with your car right now, that exhaust gas temperature sensor could be at fault, as you initially thought. If that's happening, it'll explain the loss in power you've been experiencing and the check engine light coming on - it's like a domino effect. When I faced a similar situation, my mechanic ran an ECU scan. That gave us a pretty solid clue on what was causing these issues. If the sensor is indeed defective, you might also want to have a look at the EGR valve, just to make sure there's not an issue there - these parts all sort of work together. I'd say, head to your trusted garage, have them run a thorough check, especially on the exhaust system as you've planned, and throw in an ECU scan as well, if they haven't suggested it already. And do keep us posted! Wish you good luck in sorting this out without pulling too much cash out of your wallet! Cheers!
Hey, that really makes sense! I appreciate your detailed response. It seems I might need to take a deeper dive into the EGR valve, and that faulty exhaust gas temperature sensor. I guess I've been underestimating the potential implications of these faulty parts. My garage's previously run some regular diagnostic tests, but it might be time for an ECU scan too, as you've suggested. Am heading down to my local trusty garage tomorrow. I'm feeling more confident about sorting this problem out, I'll surely keep you and the here updated. I appreciate the good vibes for my wallet - believe me, it needs them! Take care and cheers!
Hey there! Just so happens I had a similar issue with my 2017 Lexus IS Hybrid a while ago. I'd say I've got some experience under my belt dealing with car issues, but definitely not a professional. Anyway, back to the story. I also noticed a strong exhaust smell and the check engine light was my constant companion. Turned out, my exhaust system was leaking pretty badly. Took it to my local garage, and they checked the exhaust system top to bottom. There was a hole which was causing the leak and that dirty exhaust smell. For 265€, they fixed it right up. Sorted out the issue like a charm! Of course, every car is different. Could you maybe give more details about your car's issues? That way I could be more specific with my advice. Good luck!
