Hey, thanks for the swift reply. All right, I think that could be something to look into. I've got pretty much the same level of car know-how as you, so this helps a lot. As for the added deets, my Roomster just crossed the 258471 KM mark, and I've had its last service just a few months ago. Also, I've noticed a weird humming sound coming from the engine, especially when it's cold. It kinda sounds like a muffled whirr...I guess. Does that match anything you've experienced before?
Hey again, Interesting, that whirring sound does ring a bell. In my case, it was indeed a problem with the additional water pump, and the humming sound was due to the faulty motor. The bearing was worn out because of the high mileage, just like in your case. Now, I'm not saying this is your exact problem, every case can be different, but it does sound eerily similar to what I experienced. You should definitely have a mechanic you trust take a look at it. If he confirms that it's the pump's issue, bear in mind, it can be a costly repair, also considering the part's cost and labor involved. It set me back €225, but prices might vary depending on where you live. However, don't ignore this. Overheating can lead to more serious damage if not addressed promptly. Hope this helps, and fingers crossed, it's a minor fix for you.
Hey! Wow, your reply really hit the nail on the head. Sounds like your experience mirrors what I'm going through currently. You're right, I should have a trusted mechanic look into it as soon as possible. Didn't realize how severe the ramifications could be if left unchecked, thanks for pointing that out. I know costs might fluctuate depending on the location, but having an estimate definitely helps prepare for the worst. Really appreciate your advice. Here's hoping it's nothing major. Fingers crossed indeed. Cheers!
Hey there, I experienced a somewhat similar issue with my 2016 Skoda Octavia. I'd say I have low to some experience with car stuff. It turned out the cable on the pump/control unit was defective and cost me 225€ to get fixed. My mechanic did a great job pinpointing the issue. Before rushing to a conclusion, can you give more details about your car's condition or any weird noises it's making? That'd help in giving a more specific solution to your problem.
