Seeking Advice on 2014 Kia Forte's Malfunctioning Blower and Rear Ventilation Flap Issues

Blower does not work properly

Hey! I've got a 2014 Kia Forte with a Gasoline engine and approximately 155,916 Kms under its belt. I've noticed the blower isn't working as it should, and I'm suspecting it's maybe because of a Rear ventilation flap malfunction. Has anyone faced a similar issue, and what was your experience with the mechanics like? My last time at the mechanic wasn't great, hence my concern. Appreciate any insight you guys can offer. Thanks!

Hey there! I totally get where you're coming from. A few months back, I faced a similar issue with my 2017 Kia Optima. Noticed one chilly morning the blower wasn't putting out as much heat as usual - I suspected it might be something to do with the rear ventilation flap malfunctioning. After much deliberation, I bit the bullet and went to the garage. Turns out, the problem was due to the Cable needing a servomotor. It wasn't a walk in the park, as any mechanical work is complicated, but it wasn't a big car disaster either. They had to strip down a fair bit of the inside of the dash to get to it which was a hassle and time-consuming. That being said, the main takeaway is that it’s a fixable issue, nothing to lose sleep over. So, since you've already narrowed down the symptoms, you're a step ahead. Definitely suggest having mechanics check out the servomotor on the Cable. Hope this helps and best of luck sorting it out.

Hey, just hopping into this conversation as I had a similar problem with my own Kia Forte a while back. The blower was acting up, and like you guys I suspected it was due to a Rear ventilation flap malfunction too, when you had this servo motor issue with your Kia Optima and had to go through the trouble of having your dash stripped to fix it, could you recall how much the entire process set you back? Has there been any other issues or side effects popping up since the repair job? Cheers!

Hey there! Ah, yes, I remember the repair quite clearly. It wasn't exactly a cheap trip to the mechanic, but in the big scheme of things, it saved me from some major discomfort during those chilly drives. The whole ordeal of fixing the Cable which needed a servomotor set me back to the tune of 170.00 €. Not exactly a steal, but hey, my rear ventilation flap is back to doing its thing properly now, so it was worth it. Post-repair, the blower's been working much better and - touch wood - no more freaky surprises or side effects have popped up. I'd say it was a practical move and the dash stripping process sort of gave my car some sort of an internal clean-up, if you get what I mean. So, I'll still recommend going for it. You'll thank yourself during those frosty winters when the heater fires up! Good luck with your Forte!

Hey guys! So, backed up with your shared experiences, I finally took the plunge and took my Forte to the garage. Just like what happened with, the mechanic found out that the issue was indeed with the Cable servomotor and I had to get it sorted out. It was as pesky as you mentioned - having to strip the inside of the dash was a bit of a pain but it all worked out fine in the end. The cost was around the same as at about 175.00 €. Not the cheapest indeed, but definitely worth it to have everything running again just as intended! It's been a couple of weeks since the repair and I've had smooth driving with no other issues cropping up - just like mentioned. Just wanted to follow up and say a big thanks for your inputs and insights! The blower has been absolutely fantastic and I've got a feeling that this winter ain't gonna be that bad after all. Cheers!
