Seeking Advice on 2013 Dacia Sandero Diesel Engine Troubles and Boost Pressure Control Issues

Unsteady engine

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Hey all, I've been having some trouble with my 2013 Dacia Sandero Diesel that's done about 134k Km. Recently, the check engine light popped on and I noticed a drop in engine power, unstable engine behavior, and the car jerks when I try to accelerate. I'm starting to suspect issues with the boost pressure control. Anyone else had this same trouble and might have an idea about what's going on? Would also love to hear about your experiences with your mechanics regarding this. Last time I went for a fix, it wasn't a smooth ride. Thanks for your help, folks!

Hey there Your description reminds me a lot of what happened with my 2016 Dacia Duster Diesel, had about 120k Km on it. Noticed the same symptoms as yours: reduced engine power, unstable engine behavior, and this pesky jerk when I tried to put my foot down. Finally, the culprit turned out to be the Wastegate valve linkage. After a bit of poking around, my mechanic figured out it was in dire need of an adjustment. The diagnosis wasn't too tricky once they got down to it. I'll be honest, I was a little annoyed, hoping it wasn't something serious. Thankfully, it wasn't a major issue. Just a bit inconvenient, you might say. Once it was adjusted, the car was running smooth again. So, based on my experience, might be worth getting the Wastegate valve linkage of your Sandero checked. Without a proper check, it might be hard to pin down, but it's a good starting point. Best of luck with it, and hope you get it sorted soon!

Hey there, Wow, the issues you had with your Duster sound exactly like what's going on with my Sandero. Really glad to hear it ended up being something as simple as adjusting the Wastegate valve linkage rather than a full-blown engine problem. Gives me a bit of hope, thanks for that! I’m just curious, do you happen to remember roughly how much you had to pay for the linkage adjustment? Plus, has any other issues sprung up related to this since the fix? Here’s hoping I can get my Dacia running as smooth as yours soon. Cheers!

Hey! Yeah, can’t forget that one. The bill to readjust the Wastegate valve linkage was around 240€. Not the smallest bill I've seen, but considering it solved the problem and got my Duster purring again, I reckon it was worth it. And talking about the issues after the fix, ain't got any complaints! After the mechanic took care of it, the boost pressure control's been working like a charm. No more unstable engine behavior, and my ride's got its groove back, if you catch my drift. Wishing you all the luck with your fix. Hope you get your Sandero running smoothly real soon. Chin up and keep the rubber side down!

Hey there, Thanks so much for the tip and the cost breakdown! You've been a great help! I was getting worried about the extent of the issue but it sounds like it shouldn't be overly complex or expensive to fix. My Sandero sure could use its groove back like your Duster! you've convinced me. First thing tomorrow, I'll ring up my mechanic and specifically ask them to check the Wastegate valve linkage, fingers crossed it's just that. Cheers for taking the time to share your experience and advice. You've saved me a lot of trouble. I'll drop back in here and update you once the Sandero's back on track. Can't wait to get her running smooth again! Thanks again!
