Seeking Advice on 2013 Audi A7 Diesel Suspension Problems and Warning Light Issue

Bouncing excessively over bumps

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Excessive Bouncing

Hey guys, got a 2013 Audi A7 Diesel acting all funny lately, bouncing too much even over small bumps. I've also seen a warning light pop up on the speedometer. I suspect it might be an issue with the damper adjustment of the chassis, but need your expert advice here to pin it down. Anyone faced the same problem? And if yes, how did your mechanic handle it? Looking forward to your experiences and solutions!

Hey there! I've got myself a 2011 Audi A5 that faced the same issue a while back. Just to give you some context, I've got a little bit of car knowledge but I'm no expert by any means. Took it to my local workshop. The issue was a defective cable connection messing with my damper adjustment. To fix it, I ended up paying around 155 Euro. Just to be sure though, can you share what kind of warning light you've seen? And how's the weather been lately? Sometimes weather can affect the suspension, too. Helped me to pinpoint the issue and might help you out as well.

Hey, thanks for your advice! The warning light I've been seeing is the one that has a sort of car symbol with two squiggly lines underneath it. Been really hot these past few days, around 35 degrees Celsius. That's summer in Australia! Go figure. Oh and as for my car, my last service was at 289145 KM. Just musing if I missed something during that appointment. This bouncing problem is new after the service.

Hey again! Sounds like you're having a proper Aussie summer over there, eh? First, the warning light: The symbol you're describing signifies an Electronic Stabilization Control (ESC) issue. It's concerning because the ESC is an important part of a car's safety system, helping to keep the car stable and prevent skidding or losing control. While the cause could be as simple as a temporary glitch, it might also indicate a more serious brake or suspension system issue that's causing the excessive bounce. Given the recent hot weather you've mentioned, your shocks and struts could be taking a hit. They're filled with oil that can thin out when temperatures climb, reducing their effectiveness. That might explain the recent bad behavior. Regarding your last service, it's possible that something got overlooked; these things happen. But given your car's mileage, wear and tear shouldn't be ruled out. A suspension-related problem wouldn't be a surprise with that many kilometres on the odometer. My advice? Get your Audi checked by a professional. Don't take chances when it comes to safety. Hang in there!

Well, you've nailed it exactly! Now that I think about it, it has been unusually hotter than usual these past few days. Those squiggly lines under the car symbol do make sense now that you’ve mentioned Electronic Stabilization Control. Bravo! I’ll definitely take your advice to heart and plan a visit to my mechanic first thing next week. It seems I overlooked the part about the oil in the shocks and struts thinning out due to a heat wave and it's hitting me now. On the bright side, it's good to know I'm not alone in this. Can't thank you enough for your insights! Ride’s got quite a hefty mileage, hasn't it? Just hoping the wear and tear hasn’t done a number on it this time around. Cheers for your two cents! Keep safe out there!
