Seeking advice on 2012 Kia Venga's lock troubles and dimming lights issue

Dim or flickering lights

Vehicle cannot be unlocked or locked

Hey! Need some help with my 2012 Kia Venga running on gasoline. It's been acting weird lately - trouble with the locks and dimming lights. My hunch is that there might be some problem with the door handle electronics, but not entirely sure. Could use some advice to nail down this issue. Anyone experienced something similar? If so, what was your experience with fixing it at the workshop? Cheers!

Hey there, Not an expert (got some hands-on experience though), but did face a similar problem with my 2010 Kia Soul. A couple of years difference, but who knows, right? Took it to my local garage and turns out the culprit was the cable connection between the door handle electronics and control unit. Got it patched up for about 110 Euro. Apparently, it's a relatively common issue across the brand. That said, could you give more deets on your car? Like, any recent mods, overall mileage, etc? I might be able to provide more specifics with that info. Good luck! Cheers!

Hey! Really appreciate the feedback. Seems like we could be dealing with the same gremlin. I haven't made any recent changes to the car and hesitate to mess around too much, you know? As for the mileage, she's at about 68585 Km km. Haven't had any significant issues so far which is a bit of a surprise given that she's not exactly a spring chicken anymore. It's been a while since her last service, though, so this could be a wake-up call, huh? Thanks again! Cheers!

Hey! Spot on! Considering the mileage and the symptoms, this is my two cents: the issue is likely related to a worn or damaged component rather than some malfunction. Faulty door handle electronics could indeed be the culprit but it could be a depleted battery too. Dim lights and lock issues hint at an irregular supply of juice. Maybe start by getting your battery (including terminals and cables) checked out? Also, it might help to think about getting a full service done. After all, the old girl ain't as young as she used to be! A general check-up never hurts and besides, it's good to keep a car in shape, especially an older one, right? Good luck! Here's hoping it's nothing major. Cheers!

Hey! Thanks again for the solid advice! I hadn't thought about the battery, but what you said makes a lot of sense. And you're right, it's definitely due for a service soon. Time to take care of the old girl properly, eh? I'll start with battery checking and then we'll see what lies ahead. Appreciate all the pointers you've given me! They've definitely given me a clearer direction on this. Much obliged! All the best to you! Cheers!
