Hey, cheers for the valuable info, really appreciate it. It was indeed a DPF issue. Managed to take it to a different mechanic and turns out, the Diesel Particle Filter was on its last legs. So, guess, I've joined the Diesel Volvos with DPF problems club now, haven't I? Anyway, I'm curious, do you recall roughly what it set you back to get the DPF issue sorted in your Volvo? Also, has anything else cropped up with your car since you got the DPF fixed? Cheers again for your advice!

Hey, glad you found the info helpful and managed to sort it out! Welcome to the Diesel Volvos with DPF problems club, we meet on Tuesdays, beers on me! As for the cost, I remember it quite clearly because my wallet's still recovering - It was a solid 1550€. It was a bit of a hit but worth every penny, the DPF was internally defective and needed a serious fix. Painful, but it sorted out the Diesel Particle Filter remaining mileage which was ridiculously short before the repair. Since fixing it though, touch wood, my Volvo’s been running smooth as silk, no more power loss or black smoke drama. It was a one-off hefty cost but my mind's at peace now knowing I won't have to deal with it again anytime soon. So don't stress too much, you've taken care of the big issue, and hopefully, your car will reciprocate with a smooth ride! Cheers!

Hey there, that's indeed a relief! Knowing that the heavy lifting is done, I can spare the stress. And count me in for the Tuesday club, I'll get the first round! Yeah, you're right there, my wallet is definitely feeling the pain as well, cause I had to shell out around 1200 €, a bit cheaper than yours but still quite heavy on the pocket. But then again, no black smoke and ride is smooth, so I guess it's a fair exchange. I'm glad to know that your Volvo's been running fine post the fix. Gives me hope that mine would follow the same route. And yes, peace of mind is indeed a blessing! Thanks again. Catch you at the club on Tuesday! Cheers!

Hey there, I feel your struggle. I got a 2013 S60 Diesel Volvo, and hit something similar a while back. Mine was stuck at endless DPF Regeneration cycles and that bloody engine light wouldn't turn off. First off, it doesn't sound good, but don't freak out too much. Black smoke and loss in power are telltale signs of a DPF problem. You hit the nail on the head with the Diesel Particle Filter nearing it's lifespan, so it's likely from what you're describing. I remember when my ride pulled that stunt - at the garage, we found out it was an internally defective DPF. The engine was struggling big time and it was impacting the overall performance. Long story short, it's a serious enough issue that you don't want to ignore. There's a pattern, Diesel Volvos around that mileage start to throw these DPF issues. It sucks, I know... but you're not alone . So yeah, don't put off going to the garage. And if you don't like the last mechanic, find yourself a new one. Get it looked at pronto, trust me. Even though it sounds like one hell of a problem, getting it fixed was the best decision. Now my Volvo runs like a dream, no more worries. Hope that helps! Hang in there, you'll get through this.
