Seeking Advice on 2010 Nissan Livinia Overheating Issue and Low Coolant Levels

Overheating

Hey folks, I'm dealing with a bit of a car issue here. My 2010 Nissan Livinia, gasoline engine, has been acting up lately - the warning light on the speedometer's lit and she's been overheating, plus my coolant level's getting low. I suspect this could be the cause, but wondered if anyone else has experienced similar issues and how their workshop sorted it out? Would appreciate any insights, thanks!

Hey there! Sounds like a pickle you're in. I'm not an expert, but I've had some experience. I remember having a similar issue with my 2008 Nissan Qashqai, also a gasoline engine, about a year ago. I thought I was fire-fighting the issue, constantly topping up the coolant, but the problem persisted until the lights on my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. In my case, it turned out to be a cozy home for an irritating leak within the cooling system, allowing coolant to seep out. I took it to my local workshop and those lads traced the source of the leak to a tiny hole in one of the hoses. For a 52.50 Euro bill, they replaced the faulty bit and topped up my coolant. Just out of curiosity, have you noticed any puddled coolant on your garage floor? Could help you or a mechanic trace the source of the leak if there is one. Stay safe and keep her cool!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply! That's interesting to hear about your Qashqai. It's been a while since my Livinia had its last service at 140063 KM and I honestly can't remember if I've checked for any coolant puddles in the garage. I guess I got too caught up dealing with the overheating issue and the warning light. I'll take your advice and give the garage floor a proper look for any coolant trails. I think it's time I get her into the workshop for a thorough look too. After all, she's covered plenty of miles and nobody wants a Christmas light show on the dash! I truly appreciate your help and advice, cheers!

No problem at all! I know how worrisome these car issues can be. Sounds like a wise plan to get your Livinia checked out at the workshop. With the distance she's covered, it wouldn't hurt to give her a thorough looking over. And do keep an eye out for those coolant puddles. Sometimes small leaks can be spotlighted this way and solved without much fuss. Don't forget to check under where your engine is, that's where most leaks usually happen. Good luck with it all! And remember, even if the journey gets overheated sometimes, it just makes the destination more worthwhile. Keep us updated how it goes! Safe travels.

Hey, I reckon you've hit the nail on the head there! It's been a journey alright with my trusty Livinia, there’s no denying that. I've always seen car issues as a part and parcel of the whole experience, but you couldn't have put it any better - it sure makes the destination more worthwhile. I'll keep my eyes peeled for those elusive coolant puddles, especially around the engine area. Looking forward to giving her the check-up she deserves at the workshop. I'll keep you folks posted about how things turn out. Really appreciate your advice and the moral support, cheers, safe travels to you too!
