Hi! Appreciate the advice. No recent modifications. I've actually been pretty meticulous about the routine maintenance. Just hit 141342 KM on the odometer and the latest service was about 5 months ago. They did change the oil and air filter, crafted my brakes and everything seemed fine until these symptoms started showing up. Starting to think maybe my baby's got more serious problems, kinda got me stressed out. 45 Euro for a fuel filter doesn't sound bad though, much cheaper than a fuel pressure regulator. Cheers!
Hey again, Sounds like you've been taking good care of your car, so it's definitely confusing when these issues pop up. Sharing your stress here! You've got an impressive mileage on your Lexus, so some wear and tear is to be expected. Let me spill some beans here - I faced similar issues around your mileage too. I'd suggest, just like in my case, starting with the simpler and cheaper solutions first. Go step-by-step. In spite of my initial guess, the problem wasn't the fuel pressure regulator, it was just a nasty fuel filter choking the life out of the engine. If a new fuel filter doesn't cut it, then you might want to consider other components. Sometimes, surprisingly, it can even be a faulty sensor throwing everything off. Baffling, isn't it? Also, just to rule out another common issue, have you noticed any coolant leaks or overheating recently? It's a long shot, but these problems can sometimes signal a failing head gasket, which would also explain the black smoke, the exhaust smell, unsteady engine and the drop in power. Anyway, I'd suggest to take it easy no need to worry until you get to the bottom of this. One step at a time, remember. Let me know how it goes! Cheers,
Hey! I hear you loud and clear. You're definitely easing my stress! I'm going to follow your advice and have my fuel filter checked, or maybe even replaced first. I'm hoping that will nip these issues in the. On the subject of your question, no, haven't seen any coolant leaks or signs of overheating. But if the fuel filter change doesn't sort it out, I'll consider that failing head gasket warning. I'll keep you posted on what happens next. One step at a time, you're right. Deep breaths... Cheers,
Howdy there, I’m not an expert but I do have some experience with similar car issues. I own a 2002 Lexus GX diesel which had the same symptoms. It turned out there was an issue with the fuel filter. Took my car to my trusted local garage and they made an error in entering some details after they swapped it. Had to cough up 45 Euro myself, not a big drama, but still a bit annoying. Just to be sure I can help you wax out this issue, would you mind sharing a bit more detail about your rig? Specifically, have there been any recent modifications or maintenance, like a new air filter or oil change, that might have triggered this? Might give a bigger picture of what's going on under the hood. Cheers,
