Awesome, thanks for the info! My Mohave has run about 132,268 KM so far. As for its maintenance history, the last service was pretty recent. Still, I'll note down your point about the pressure sensor and get it checked out soon with my usual mechanic. Hopefully, it's nothing more severe! Let's see how it goes.
No worries! Given the mileage and recent service, your Mohave is in a pretty good state. The rail pressure sensor issue I pointed out earlier might just be it. The symptoms you mentioned match almost perfectly with the ones I experienced. But hey, I’m no certified mechanic. It's always better to have a professional take a good look under the hood. Also, ask your mechanic to give a thorough check on other elements like the air filter, fuel injectors, oxygen sensors, and spark plugs. These can often cause similar symptoms if they are not functioning correctly. Remember to update us on how it goes. Best of luck, hope your Kia gets back to cruising smoothly soon!
Thanks a ton for your thoughtful advice! You're absolutely right, nothing beats a professional's advice. I'm definitely going to ask him to check the rail pressure sensor and the other components you've mentioned. Fingers crossed it's a minor issue. Will surely keep you posted on the results of the diagnostic and subsequent fix. Really appreciate the help, hope to repay the favor someday! Take care!
Hey! I've got a 2008 model Kia Sorento, similar to your Mohave, with a bit of experience under my hood. I ran into a similar issue a couple of years back - odd exhaust, less power, stalling. It turned out to be a defective pressure sensor, just like your guess. Took it to my neighborhood garage, and after a quick look, they diagnosed the problem. Basically, the faulty sensor was messing up the air-fuel mix. And that's why I was seeing the black exhaust, problems with acceleration, and the drop in power. Fix was a straight swap out of the defective sensor, ran me about 240€. Car ran smooth as butter after that. But hey, before we jump to conclusions, could you share some more info about your vehicle? Like its mileage, maintenance history, those details can really help to figure out the issue you're facing. Hope this helps ya!
