Hey there, good to hear you managed to sort it out alright. You've got me a bit worried here, but glad at least there might be light at the end of the tunnel. You remember off the top of your head how much dough you had to part with to get it fixed? And have you noticed anything odd or recurrent since? Cheers!

Hey, I feel you. The whole shebang set me back a cool 1000€ for fixing the dodgy Transmission Control Unit. It wasn't exactly chump change, but hey, I reckon it's worth every penny to have my ride running smooth again. As for your question about any weird or recurring stuff post repair, I've got good news . Ever since that trip to the mechanic, it's been all sunshine and rainbows - no issues whatsoever! My Volvo is now navigating those gear changes like a champ, no more freaky noises or any of that jazz. The problem with the Transmission Control Unit was totally sorted. So, bottom line, don't sweat it too much. Take your wheels to a trustworthy mechanic, and you should be hitting the road with peace of mind before too long. Cheers!

Hey! Cheers for the response - really appreciate your insights. One grand ain't exactly peanuts, but I value safety and a smooth ride more than anything. So, I'll start looking up reliable mechanics nearby to get this business sorted out. Preferably before the noise gets on my nerves or, heavens forbid, something bungling happens out on the road. Mental peace sounds fantastic right about now, can't wait to get back to just enjoying the drive. Thanks again for lending an ear and sharing your experience!

Hello, I had a pretty similar issue with my 2011 Volvo S60, a bit more mileage on it though. The transmission got real weird, same as yours. The culprit was indeed the Transmission Control Unit. I remember at the time being proper worried, the garage I went to told me it wasn't something I wanted to ignore. Essentially, this unit controls how and when your car changes gears, directly affecting the performance and safety of your vehicle, so yeah, it's a serious issue, man. Finally got it sorted, and now it's driving like new again. It took them a few days to get everything sorted as the procedure involved diagnosing the precise defect, removing the faulty TCU, and then replacing and reprogramming the new one. Best bet for you would be to get a trusted mechanic to check it. It's a hassle, but at least then you know it's not something more serious. Good luck with it!
