Hey! Appreciate the insight! My Nissan's engine is a 1.9 DTI. I haven't made any recent changes to it. The mystery deepens as my car's already clocked around 107,928 km. Had its last service just a few months back. I haven't experienced any issues until this fiasco started. Your input is genuinely helpful though, will get my mechanic to check on the waste gate valve. Will update the thread once I find out more. Thanks again!

Hey there again, Seeing your Nissan's engine size and mileage, it might indeed be something similar to what I had, especially if the symptoms are pretty much the same. With that kind of mileage, a faulty waste gate valve isn't out of the ordinary. However, it's also good to keep in mind the possibility of it being a faulty boost pressure sensor as you suggested initially. The symptoms certainly hint towards a turbo issue. I'd definitely recommend having that checked as well! We'll be waiting for your updates. Here's hoping it gets sorted out soon without costing you an arm and a leg. You've got my best wishes! Safe driving!

Hello again! Indeed, it's a proper detective hunt, isn't it? Ha! But, cheers for the added advice on the boost pressure sensor. Double-checking couldn't hurt. I'm making my way to the workshop first thing tomorrow morning to get all these things checked. I'll surely keep everyone updated on the progress, fingers crossed it isn't something too costly. Really appreciate all your insights! Safe travels to you too!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2008 Nissan Primastar, so same brand and only a couple years apart. My level of car expertise is somewhere around 'some experience', as I'm not a pro but have spent quite a bit of time in and around cars. I too faced the black smoke and power loss issue and after getting it checked at my local workshop, it turned out to be a waste gate valve defect. What my mechanic did was to replace the faulty waste gate valve. That fixed it all up for me, no more smoke and got my power back. The total cost ran me around 860 Euro, but it was absolutely worth it to have the old girl running smoothly again. By the way, could you share more details about your car like engine size, mileage and if there were any recent changes made to it? That info might help pinpoint your issue a bit more conclusively. Hope this helps out!
