Hey there, Seriously useful information, thanks a ton. You've nailed exactly what I've been guessing might be the issue with my Sportage. Jumping right to the point, do you remember what sort of a hole it burned in your pocket for this fix? I'm just trying to brace myself for the pain ahead, ya know. Also, since the fix, has something else popped up or is the ol' Sorento running smooth as a baby's bottom? Awesome to have your input. Safe on the roads!
Hey! Glad I could be of some help! About the bill, it did run me a bit. The total cost for the whole procedure, replacing the defective vent lines and checking the DMTL valve, came to 205.00 €. So, prepare yourself, it ain't cheap, but definitely worth every penny. And to your second question, since the mechanic got her all patched up, the ol' Sorento is running like a dream, smooth and stable. That aggravating tank ventilation system error hasn't reared its head again. Keep that Sportage on the road. It's a solid ride! Cheers! Safe travels out there!
Hey! Appreciate you taking the time to reply. It's easing my mind a bit to know what to expect on the invoice, and better to be prepared! A hefty sum, but, as you said, it's worth every penny if it gets my Sportage back on its feet. Relieved to know your Sorento is holding up post-repair, that's encouraging! It gives me hope that the aftershocks of this repair might at least be in check. Thanks again! I'll definitely get her fixed pronto. Wish this Kia of mine a smooth recovery! Safe and sound on the roads to you too! Cheers.
Hey! Quite synchronistic, I drive a 2007 Kia Sorento. Had the same problem around 139,000 km, check engine light that wouldn't quit and all. This combined with unstable idling and a noticeable lack in engine power. Got a hunch it could be a similar issue. In my case, the trouble was with the vent lines from the fuel tank to the valve. Vent lines were defective, causing the tank to be improperly ventilated. You're spot on, a problem with the tank ventilation system or DMTL valve can definitely match your symptoms. Took my Sorento to the mechanic and they took an in-depth look. They also found some cracks in the vent lines which were causing the suction to drop disrupting the system. So, they replaced the tank vent lines and rechecked the DMTL valve, which was fine in my case. Post repair, she’s been as good as new. The fix was not a minor one, so I'd recommend you get it sorted sooner rather than later. Hope this helps. Safe driving!
