Seeking Advice on '01 Volvo C70 Diesel ABS/DSC System and Power Steering Issues

Vibrating/shaking steering wheel

ABS/DSC system is not working

Power steering without function

Hey guys, I've got a bit of a situation with my '01 Volvo C70 Diesel. She's giving me grief with the ABS/DSC system not kicking in, power steering's gone dead and the wheel's shaking like mad. I reckon it could be a steering angle sensor defect but I'd really appreciate any wisdom or experience you guys can share. Specifically, if your workshop sorted a similar issue for you - what was the deal? Thanks!

Hey, Just had a similar issue with my '99 Volvo S80. I'm no car guru, but I have some experience messing with car stuff. Took it to my trusty workshop. Turned out the coding of the steering angle sensor was incorrect. After a quick fix, she was back on the road; smoother than ever before. All It cost me was 195 Euro. By the way, is your C70 a Manual or Auto? Any mods on it? Might help in giving you a more accurate suggestion. Hope this helps for now!

Hey! Appreciate your input. Looks like it's going to be a trip to the workshop for my old gal. To answer your question - my C70 is an automatic. No mods on it - just your plain old, reliable C70 with about 137726 clicks on the odometer. She's been sturdy as a rock until this! Crossing my fingers it's not going to cost an arm and a leg, like your 195 Euro. It'll definitely burn a hole in my pocket, but she's worth it. Let's see how it goes! Cheers for the help!

Hey again! Gotcha, an automatic, huh? My S80's a manual so the symptoms might vary a bit. But yeah, if your C70 has the same issue as my S80 then setting the correct coding for the steering angle sensor should do the trick. It wasn't too expensive, considering other potential issues it could've been. Also, the shaking steering wheel might be down to an alignment issue or tire imbalance. Couldn't hurt to get those checked out whilst you're at it. Good luck with the workshop, hope they treat your gal right! Keep us posted on how it all pans out. Cheers!

Hey, thanks again! I'll definitely ask them to take a look at the alignment and the tire balance too. Seems like a day well spent at the workshop is on the cards. Fingers crossed that it's nothing major and she'll be back on the roads smoother than ever. I'll keep you posted on how it all works out. Take care and cheers for all the advice!
