Seeking Advice for Volvo S90's Electrical Issues and Faulty Park Distance Control

Park distance control without function

Fault stored

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

General electric malfunction

Hey Fellow Gearheads, Got a bit of a strange situation with my '22 Volvo S90 (diesel model with about 192k on the clock) that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on. I'm currently grappling with a non-functional park distance control, general electrical gremlins, and an ominous warning light on the speedo. The car seems to be storing a fault connected with these symptoms too. Had a nightmare of a visit to the mechanic last time out and I suspect a possible issue with the parking aid system acting up. Any of you run into something like this before? Could really use some input, particularly your experiences dealing with mechanics for similar issues. Thanking you in advance, folks!

Hey, I ran into a similar issue with my '19 Volvo V90. Main problem was a "Cable connection defective" warning, which drove me out of my mind. I've started getting issues with numerous electrical systems, including the parking aid, which sounds exactly like what you're experiencing. Took my car to the garage after some time of dodging the problem. One of the mechanics explained that the issue was with the whole wiring assembly, more specifically related to a faulty connector. Seems like it was causing havoc with the various interconnected electrical systems, including the PDC. So, quite a serious bugger to deal with. Luckily, they didn't need to replace the whole wiring system, but they did have to disconnect everything, trace down the faulty connector, and replace that. Not the most pleasant situation, but necessary for the overall health of the car. Not to scare you, but definitely get it looked at. It’s not something you'd wanna let linger. Your S90 deserves better, eh. Cheers!

Hey there, Wow, your experience sounds eerily similar to what I'm going through right now. It's a bit of a bummer to hear it might be such a complex issue. But hey, better to know it up front than getting blind-sided down the road, right? If you don’t mind me asking, do you recall roughly how much you had to fork out to get this faulty connector business sorted out? Also, have you had any other related issues crop up since the repair? Your input's really appreciated, seriously! Cheers!

Hello again! Well, about your question related to costs, getting the faulty connector fixed wasn't cheap, but manageable. I ended up parting with €170 or there abouts, which was not the most cheerful news to my wallet, but it's been worth it for the peace of mind. Just wanted to share this good news - ever since the mechanic tackled the problem, my Volvo's parking aid has been working like a charm with no further problems. In fact, I haven’t faced any other issues similar to the ones I experienced before the fix. So, even though it stung the pocket a bit, it was indeed the right call to get it fixed . And remember, keep treating your S90 with the respect it deserves! All the best!

Hey, Thanks for getting back! Oh, €170, that's a bit of a hit to the pocket but hearing that your Volvo's been in top shape since is a huge relief. Guess I'll have to brace myself for a similar expense. Thanks again for sharing your experience and your advice. I think I've got a pretty decent handle on this now, so off I go to sort this pesky issue out. Here's to hoping my S90 treats me well post-repairs just like yours! Cheers!
