Thanks for your reply. Good to know you sorted out your problem. Well, the last time I had a full service for my car was when it hit 137728 km. The mechanics didn't mention anything out of the ordinary, except from a minor engine tuning. Y'know, I'm sorta kicking myself for not asking them to check the transmission oil. Might need to pay them another visit soon because this whole issue is making me a bit on the edge. Thanks again for your advice, appreciate it!
Hey, no worries, happy to help! Well, it does sound like your transmission oil could use a check after that many kilometers of use. It's a good rule of thumb to have your transmission fluid checked with your regular service, but many of us tend to miss that. Thankfully, the symptoms you're having don't necessarily mean a serious problem, but it's better not to push your luck. So, I agree, it's a good plan to have it inspected sooner rather than later. One more thing, ask them to also take a look at the oil pump. If there's a pressure issue, the pump could be the culprit. Let me know how it goes and if there's anything more specific you'd like to know, feel free to ask. Cheers and good luck with your Multipla!
You're a lifesaver. Believe me, I'll be getting that transmission oil checked pronto. Wasn't aware of the oil pump contribution to the pressure. I'll make sure they have a good look at that too. Pretty relieved to know my Multipla's conditions aren't symptoms of some major glitch. Thanks again for all the guidance. I'll definitely keep you posted on how things turn out. Take care and cheers!
Hey there! I experienced a similar issue with my 2003 Fiat Punto not too long ago. Just for the record, I have some, but not a lot of, car expertise. Turned out my transmission oil level was too low. I took the old girl to the local workshop and, after a thorough check-up, they replaced and topped up my transmission oil. This smoothed out the gears and the whining and grinding noise disappeared. It cost me around 365€, but it was worth it for the peace of mind. By the way, could you tell me a bit more about your car's maintenance history and when you last changed the transmission oil? It would help in grasping the situation better and maybe I could give you more specific advice. Keep me posted!
