Seeking Advice for Troubleshooting Check Engine Light and Performance Issues in '09 Hyundai Matrix Diesel

Car won't start

Loss of engine power

Check engine light on

Hey everyone, I've got a bit of a head-scratcher with my '09 Hyundai Matrix Diesel. My check engine light's been shining brighter than a Christmas tree, my engine's behaving like it's in its twilight years, and I'm also dealing with stubborn starts. I'm suspecting something's up with the cylinder pressure, but I'm no expert. Anyone had the same experience and got their ride fixed? Would appreciate some advice on troubleshooting this issue. Cheers!

Hey there, sounds like you're in quite a pickle with your '09 Hyundai Matrix! I totally feel you as I had a similar issue with my '07 Hyundai Tucson a while back. I'm no car genius myself, just got some experience with this sort of thing. The issue with my Tucson turned out to be a consequence of other error memory entries. I didn't actually have to cough up any dough at the workshop. They wipe-cleaned the error memory and did some sort of system reset. It worked for me and didn't cost a penny. Are you good on service intervals? If not, that could be triggering issues too. Do you burn through a lot of miles? Share a bit more about your driving style and miles on your Matrix, and let's see if we can narrow it down a bit more. Best of luck!

Hey, appreciate the response! The last service was done when I hit the 60,000 KM mark. Since then, I've clocked in 65762 KM on my Matrix, mostly doing city runs. Interesting you mentioned your Tucson; Didn't think the solution would be that simple! I'll try your suggestion about a system reset and clearing the memory. Cheers for the help!

Good one glad to hear you're keeping up with services. That extra mileage within the city could be a part of the issue. Usual city driving equates to more wear and tear due to stop-start traffic and such. Definitely try the system reset and memory wipe. It worked wonders for me, fingers crossed it's the same magic cure for your Matrix. Do keep us updated on what goes on. If the reset doesn't do the trick, we'll have to dig a little deeper into other possibilities. But let's hope it doesn't come to that. Cheers and best of luck!

Alright, it's worth giving it a shot. I'll schedule to have the system reset and memory wiped asap and see how it goes. I'll share an update once it's done. Your input has given me some reassurance. Thanks a lot for your help! Cheers!
