Seeking Advice for Troubleshooting A/C and Heating Issues in 2013 Nissan Cima

A/C System Not Engaging

Air conditioning blows warm air

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey all, I've got an issue with my 2013 Nissan Cima with a petrol motor. Recently, the A/C has been blowing warm air and doesn't seem to be working right, or sometimes not at all. I've also noticed the heating/cooling system isn't as effective as it should be. My gut tells me it's something to do with the interior temperature sensor. Has anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions on troubleshooting or any tips that helped you fix this problem? Any shared experience with this kind of issue would be great. Cheers!

Hey there, I had a similar issue with my 2011 Nissan Fuga, which is quite a close match to your Cima. I'm no car guru, but I've dealt with a few things now and then, so got some experience up my sleeves. Something similar happened to me. It turned out to be a sensor cable connection issue. The workshop I took it to found the fault right away, they repaired the sensor cable connection and it cost me about 110 Euro. My A/C and heating system started working fine afterward. But to give you more precise advice, I'd need some more details about your particular situation. Is there an error code or a warning light on your dashboard and do you hear unusual noises? What's the miles on your car? Any other symptoms you can provide? Cheers!

Hey, thanks for getting back to me. It's comforting to know someone else's faced the same issue and got it fixed. No weird noises or warning lights popping up, so it's pretty puzzling. Funny you should ask, I've been pretty diligent with routine check-ups and my last service was just a fortnight ago. The machine's clocked in around 109066 km – driven it quite a fair bit since 2013. No other symptoms that I can think of, the old Nissan's been pretty smooth otherwise. Hope this helps you. Looking forward to your handy insights. Cheers!

Hey there again, Given the information you just provided, it doesn't sound like a serious issue. No warning lights or unusual noises are definitely good signs. Also, a mileage of around 109,066 km for a 2013 model isn't terribly high. A few scenarios come to mind from both personal experiences and bits I picked up here and there. Firstly, as you mentioned in your initial post, the problem could indeed be in the interior temperature sensor. Even though you don't have any warning lights, the sensor could be sending wrong readings to the car's computer, causing the A/C system to act up. The best way to know for sure would be to have an auto-tech inspect and do a diagnostic test. Secondly, it might also be a refrigerant issue. If your A/C system is low on refrigerant (also known as Freon), it won't cool as efficiently. This usually happens gradually over time due to the tiny leaks that are pretty common in car A/C systems. Lastly, the control system could be the problem. The A/C control head where you adjust fan speeds and temperature could have an internal fault. In any case, I reckon the best thing to do would be to take your Cima into a Nissan specialist or a trusted local mechanic. They'll be able to verify the exact cause of the warm air and fix any potential issues without much hassle. Trust me, trying to fix it yourself without specific knowledge might end up costing you a lot more. Hope this helps. Do keep us updated on how it goes. Cheers!

Appreciate the quick response and detailed explanation! Your insights gave me good overviews of what may be going on. I figured as much about the sensor and refrigerant, but I hadn't considered the control system. Absolutely agree with you - DIY probably isn't the best move for this one. I'm gonna take your advice and set an appointment with my local Nissan dealer for a good check-up. Hopefully, they'd be able to identify if it's the sensor, refrigerant, or control system and get it sorted without emptying my wallet. Thanks again for the tips and direction. I'll be sure to update with how things turn out. Hoping for the best here! Cheers!
