Seeking Advice for Troubleshooting ABS/DSC System Issues in 2011 Lexus LFA

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

ABS/DSC system is not working

Fault stored

ABS warning light

Hey! I got a 2011 Lexus LFA with a gasoline engine here that's acting up in a way I haven't encountered before. The ABS warning light is on, ABS/DSC system isn't working as it should, there's a warning light on the speedometer and some fault stored. I suspect the Wheel speed sensor (ABS sensor) might be failing but would love to hear your thoughts or similar experiences. Can anyone share their troubleshooting process for this or tips on how they sorted out this issue at their garage? Cheers for any advice!

Hey there, I may be able to help as I encountered a similar issue with my 2013 Lexus IS F a while back. Even though I only have some car experience, I tinkered enough with cars to figure out some things. I first thought the issue was with the speed sensors too, but the workshop ran a full diagnostic and it turns out the ABS Control Unit was defective. Trust me, it was as much of a surprise to me as it might be to you now! The whole repair set me back around a grand, 1000€ to be exact. So, before you do any take-apart job, I recommend getting it diagnosed by a professional. By the way, is your Lexus auto or manual? And, do you happen to know if there were any recent changes like car parts replacements, accidents or something? Details like that could help shed some light on your predicament. Looking forward to help you out!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience! It's an automatic. I haven't made any recent changes or gotten into any accidents, thankfully. It's been serviced regularly, the latest at 64710 km on the clock. It ran smooth as silk since then, so this ABS light popping up has got me scratching my head. But yep, I reckon the next step for me is to get a diagnostic, as you've suggested. Fingers crossed it won't be a bank-breaker as it was in your case! Keep you posted. Cheers!

Hey, sounds like you're doing everything right with the regular servicing and all. It does sound somewhat similar to my situation from before. Yeah, it's pretty perplexing when a car that runs smoothly suddenly starts showing faults, leaves us all guessing. And oh boy, do I remember the stress of that ABS light glaring at me! Before you get it checked, one thing you could do is try to reset the light by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery - just make sure you have your radio code handy if it's an older model, you know how they can be a nuisance... Sometimes, it could be a simple glitch. But if the issue comes back, definitely get it to the garage for a check-up. Don't despair it might not be as costly as my case. Wishing you all the luck in figuring it out and let us all know how it goes. Also, it's cool connecting with fellow Lexus enthusiasts despite the quirks. Happy motoring!

Hey, you're right! It's quite the guessing game, this one. I appreciate the battery disconnect tip and will make sure to put it into action before taking it in. Yeah, dealing with radio codes can be quite annoying! I'll have it get checked if the issue pops up again. Thanks for your good vibes, really need them right now. Will surely keep you all updated about my findings. It's indeed great connecting with fellow Lexus owners and sharing experiences. Makes these situations a little less stressful, eh? Cheers and happy motoring to you too!

Hello, I have a problem in my lexus is 350 2006 with the Abs, I get the traction and abs lights all the time, and it says "Check VCS system" I have tried several things, I changed the wheel speed sensor and the sensor cable and I still have the problem, the abs definitely does not work, when I brake a little hard it loses traction completely, if you could give me some advice I would appreciate it very much, thank you.

It sounds like you've already done some good troubleshooting by replacing the wheel speed sensor and the sensor cable. If the problem persists, it could be an issue with the ABS Control Module or the brake system itself. I would recommend having a professional mechanic run a diagnostic test to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. This is a safety-relevant issue, so it's important to have it checked as soon as possible. Please keep us updated on your progress and let us know if you have any other questions.
