Seeking Advice for Troubleshooting a 2020 Renault Arkana with Engine Issues

Longer cold start time

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Car won't start

Engine shuts off by itself

Check engine light on

Unsteady engine

Hey guys, need some help here. My 2020 Renault Arkana with a Gasoline engine has been acting funny lately. Just to list a few things going on: the check engine light's on, it keeps shutting itself off, taking longer to start in the cold, and does this weird jerk thing when I accelerate. Not only that, there's noticeable Power Loss and the engine isn't running smoothly; even fires up sometimes. I'm suspecting it might be a fuel pump issue. Has anyone had similar problems? What did your local garage do to fix it? Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hey, Chiming in here. I've some experience with cars but don't consider myself a pro by any means. I had a similar issue with my 2018 Renault Kadjar, nearly the same model as your Arkana. The bloody thing kept stalling and jerking, pretty much sounded like a tractor! Took it to the local mechanic and after quite a bit of poking around, we found out it was incorrect software values for the fuel pump - cost me 45 euro to get it fixed. You might need to get that looked into. Can I ask if you've ever had your fuel pump or its software checked? Hope this helps! Let's chat again if you need more info.

Hey there, Cheers for the quick reply! And what a crazy coincidence with our Renaults, ain't it? Cool to see another person with nearly the same model. Back to the point, though, I can't recall if I've ever checked the fuel pump or its software, honestly. Might be high time to look into it! The rig's at 178,464 km mileage now and getting cranky, seems like. About the software issue you mentioned, that's something I never even thought of! Good shout. I'll make sure to pass on it to my local garage guys. Let's hope it won't drill a hole in my pocket, else gotta say goodbye to my pizza nights for a bit! Appreciate the input. Here's to hoping that putting a leash on the software works the magic! Cheers, until next time!

No problem, happy to help out a fellow Renault driver! Based on what you've mentioned, considering the mileage of your Arkana and the symptoms you've described, I'd definitely recommend getting both the fuel pump and its software checked out. That software issue could be a tricky one and is often overlooked. But sometimes, it's the simplest of things causing us the biggest headaches, isn't it? If it turns out to be a simple software recalibration, shouldn't be too heavy on the pocket either - fingers crossed for you. Universal rule of car ownership and pizza, though, you never can tell when one will affect the other, right? Good luck with the fix. Hope your Arkana feels better soon. Do let us know how it goes. Cheers!

Hi again, Thanks a million. Couldn't agree more about the overlapping worlds of car ownership and pizza, it's a wild ride! I'll definitely take your advice and have both the fuel pump and its software checked. Will cross my fingers and toes it's not going to cost me too much or there won't be pizza for a while, yeah? Promise I'll keep you posted on the situation and how my car is doing. Maybe I'll organise a pizza party here once everything's sorted! Until then, stay safe and cool. Cheers for being a lifesaver!
