Hey there, thanks for sharing your experience, really helpful! I had my last service at mileage 98547 km, not sure if that's causing any of these issues. I do have a couple of dashboard lights on - an engine light and ABS warning light. My UrbanCruiser's been generally reliable, didn't have to do any major fixes or part replacements yet. Guess I'll pop into my regular workshop and ask them to look at the steering angle sensor. Cheers! Let's cross the fingers it has nothing to do with the high mileage, eh?
Hey, glad I could help! So, those dashboard lights...when the engine light is on, it's usually telling you about an issue somewhere in the emissions system. Could be a lot of things, honestly. What you can do is unplug your battery for about 15 minutes and see if the light goes away. If it does, chances are there's nothing major to worry about. On the other hand, if it pops back up again, I'd definitely recommend getting a diagnostics check. Now, the ABS warning light, coupled with the non-functioning ABS/DSC system, shaking steering wheel and non-functioning power steering, it's mostly due to a failed steering angle sensor. That's what happened with my Verso. It was around the same mileage as yours too. And I understand what you are feeling right now, but do not worry. Mileage is just a number, with regular maintenance these cars will serve us well. So, I'd still suggest you go down to your workshop and get the sensor checked as we discussed before. It should be a straightforward fix if it's the sensor. Hope your UrbanCruiser will return to its former smooth ride after the problem's fixed. Cheers and let us know how it goes!
You're spot on! I did try the old "unplug the battery" trick and the engine light went back off. That's a load off my mind! Your guess about the ABS/DSC system seems to be in line with all the symptoms. Haha, you're right, can't let high mileage scare me off, gotta love these trusty old cars. I've taken your advice and booked it in for a steering angle sensor check at the workshop. Really appreciate your guidance on this, hoping for a smooth ride again soon. Cheers, will keep you posted!
Hey! I had a similar issue on my 2013 Toyota Verso not too long ago. I'm no car guru but I do have some experience with these things. Turned out to be just what you suspected: the steering angle sensor. Had it fixed at my local workshop. The guy said the coding was off on the sensor. Had it recalibrated for about 195€. Could you share more details about your vehicle, like any dashboard lights on, recent work done, etc? It'd help me give you more specific advice. Cheers! Trust me, the sooner you fix it, the better.
