Hey dude, thanks for the reply! Your experience is enlightening and actually made me worry less. As for the additional details, my Demio is at 112897 KM and the most recent service was a standard check, oil, and filter change at the local mechanic about a month ago. So, I reckon everything was fine until the oil lights came on. Your insight about the oil pump has set me thinking now. Maybe I'd better get it checked out soon. Thanks again for the support! Cheers!
Hey back at you! I'm glad my response gave you a bit of comfort. It's not a fun situation to be in; I totally get it. But it's good that you're being proactive about it. About the oil pump, it was just based on my experience. It might not be exactly what's happening with your Demio, but it's something worth considering. The metal shavings, the oil light... it looks like a potential lack of oil circulation and this could lead to serious damage if not addressed quickly. Given your mileage of 112897 KM and keeping up to date with services - it isn't typical to see such issues. But cars are machines and things can occasionally hit the fan. I recommend two things: get that oil changed ASAP since metal shavings in it are bad news, and secondly, get that check engine light diagnosed. It might give some error codes that could point to the exact issue. I was able to fix my 323 by getting the oil pump replaced and I hope your solution is as straightforward. Do keep us posted on what happens. Good luck!
Hey, thanks for shedding light on these issues! I appreciate the detailed response and advice. I totally agree with you, guess I'll get the oil changed first thing in the morning. That check engine light problem also needs to be looked at. I'm gonna pay a visit to the garage and hope it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. But you're right, cars are machines and they do give us some trouble from time to time. Your experience and suggestions seriously helped! Good call on the oil pump, too. I'll surely keep you and the gang posted about it. Thanks again for all the help! Cheers!
Hey! I've had a somewhat similar situation with my 2000 Mazda 323, so I reckon I might be able to help you out a bit. I am certainly not an expert when it comes to cars, just a guy with some experience tinkering with them. Here's my story. I also got those pesky engine and oil lights on and found metal bits in my oil. To cut a long story short, I had to take it to my local workshop, where they diagnosed a defective oil pump. Unfortunately, I had to cough up around 625 Euro to get it replaced. Your case seems kind of similar, but it could be something else. Can you provide more details? Mileage, car maintenance history, last time you changed your oil & filter, etc.? That info would help in figuring out your problem better. Hope this helps!
