Seeking Advice for Suspected Headlight Range Control Issue in '08 Opel GT - Gasoline Variant

Low beam and high beam seems too high or too low

|

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Hey! I've got a bit of a puzzle with my '08 Opel GT - Gasoline variant. The low and high beams seem misaligned and there's an odd light popping up on the speedo. I'm suspecting it's a headlight range control malfunction, but I could do with a second opinion. Anyone else had a similar issue and what did your garage do to fix it? Would appreciate any tips or experiences you can share.

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my '06 Opel Astra. I've got some experience with cars, but I’m not a pro. The problem turned out to be a defective servomotor in the headlight. My workshop had it replaced which cost me about 1040 Euro. Could you share a bit more info on the symptoms and your car? That could help us get a better picture of what's going on.

Thanks for weighing in! Well, the headlamp's beam is wonky, one side shoots straight and the other is aimed a bit too high. Plus, there's this funny little blinking light on the speedo, looks like a bulb with an exclamation mark in it. I've noticed the problem a couple of days after my GT's last service, it's now at 74852 KM mileage. It was working fine before, that's why I suspected it might be something with the headlight range control. Afraid I'll have to dig into my pockets for this, haha.

Hey, sounds like we're on the same boat, haha! My Astra had the exact symptoms. That wonky beam issue you're having is a classic indicator of a headlight range control problem. The blinking light on the speedo is a dead give-away too. In my case, it was indeed the servo motor but it could also be the control module gone berserk. So yeah, from my experience, it does seem like you're looking at a potential headlight range control malfunction, just as you suspected. Time to ring up the garage, I guess. Gotta admit, this ain't gonna be a cheap fix (my wallet still hurts thinking about it). Make sure they check both module and servomotor! Cheer up, though, once it's sorted your GT will be as good as new! Let us know how it goes, bud! Drive safe!

Hey, thanks for your insights, I really appreciate it! It was a blow but well, I guess you can't ignore safety when it comes to night driving. I'll definitely ring the garage first thing in the morning and mention the servomotor and the control module. I'm sort of bracing my wallet for the impact already, haha. I'll update you guys once I get the issue sorted. Keep your fingers crossed for my old GT. Thanks again and safe driving to you too!
