Seeking Advice for Recurring Overheating and Low Coolant Issues in a 2007 Mazda MPV Diesel

Coolant level low

Hey all, having a strange issue with my 2007 Mazda MPV diesel. The dash warning light's been lighting up, she's overheating, and the coolant's always low. I have a hunch that the low coolant may be the culprit. Has anyone else faced something similar? Can you share how you found the problem and got it sorted? What did the mechanics say in your case? Looking forward to any advice or tips, thanks a bunch!

Hey there! I've had a similar issue with my 2005 Mazda MX-5. Not the same model, but it was behaving the same way. Can't call myself a car expert, I've got some hands-on experience but can't claim to be a pro. In my case, the workshop found a leak in the coolant reservoir. Topped the coolant up and sealed the leak. It set me back €52.5, but the issue was sorted. However, it's good to have a detailed check, yours might not be exactly the same. Do you know if your car has any leaks? Or when was the last time you changed your coolant? That info might give us a better picture to help you out. Do keep us posted!

Hey! Thanks for the swift reply! Can't say I've found any leaks so far, but I'll have a thorough check around the coolant reservoir. The coolant was last changed at the last service, which was done quite recently when the odometer was at 190191 KM. It never hurts to be sure, right? So it's probably off to the workshop for me soon. Will keep you posted on what they find. Thanks again for the advice, really appreciate it.

Hey, no problem at all! Glad I could share some of my experience. Coolant change being recent is a good sign, but yeah, better be safe than sorry, especially with overheating - not something to take lightly. Double check for leaks, maybe around the hoses and radiator too, sometimes they can be tricky to spot. Also, might be worth having the mechanic check if the water pump and the thermostat work properly. Sometimes they're the sneaky culprits behind overheating and coolant issues. Hope it's just something minor and your Mazda gets back on track soon! Looking forward to your update. Safe driving and take care!

Great shout on the hoses, radiator, water pump and thermostat bit. Can't say I had them on my mind. The overheating has indeed got me quite worried, hence the check-up visit. Thanks heaps for the tips and the good wishes, they mean a lot! Will keep you posted about how it goes down at the workshop. Drive safe, cheers!
