Hi, really appreciate the detailed response. I'll definitely keep the battery and alternator check in mind! About your questions, I live in the north so it does get pretty chilly here oftentimes. As for the kilometres, my Serena clocked in at 98896 KM. Service was up to date before this issue popped up. So you reckon the glow plug is the culprit here based off your experience, right? Might be worth swinging by the workshop then. Cheers again!

G'day again. With my limited experience and your description of the symptoms, it does look a lot like the issues I had with my X-Trail, which we traced back to a bum glow plug. The cooler cli you're in, as well as the higher mileage, can potentially lead to wear and tear on the glow plug. Remember though, each car's unique. What worked for mine might not be the exact solution for your Serena. Ideally, get it checked by a professional mechanic. I mean, if it turns out to be just the glow plug defect, that's not a massive fix cost-wise like mine was. But you don't want to ignore the possibilities of other issues because if it's the DPF or fuel system, that can cost a fair whack to sort out. Just my two cents as a fellow car owner, not a mechanic. Either way, good luck, and keep us posted with how it turns out! Cheers!

Thanks a ton for the thorough advice, and taking the time to share your experience, it's really appreciated. You make a good point that it could be something else, so I'll definitely take your advice on board and have a mechanic look into it. It's always worth getting a check rather than regretting it down the line! You were a great help, I'll keep you guys posted on the outcome once it's been looked into by the experts. Cheers for everything!

Hey there, sounds like a bit of a pickle you're in. Funny enough, I had a similar issue with my 2017 Nissan X-Trail diesel, so probably not a world apart from your Serena. I'd say I have some experience with cars but I'm certainly no mechanic, just been tinkering over the years you know? Anyway, as for my misadventures, I took my X-Trail to my local workshop, described the symptoms and they ran a full scan on the electrical system. Turns out, the glow plug was indeed defective due to wear and tear. They quoted me 560 Euro and I had them go ahead and replace it. Post repair, my ride's been running smooth and starting up fine, even on winter mornings. But hey, it might not hurt to get your battery and alternator checked too, just in case. Out of curiosity, how often are you driving in cold weather? And what's the mileage on your Serena? That could give me a better idea if you're in the same boat or not. Let me know!
