Seeking Advice for Persistent Engine Troubles with 2023 Seat Tarraco

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble with my 2023 Seat Tarraco, gas engine, clocked 199081 KM so far. Started noticing some black smoke when I step on it, and the check engine light won't quit. On top of that, my engine's been cutting out randomly, cold starts take longer, and the engine’s been running real rough. Gas mileage has gone way down, and sometimes the ol' girl flat out refuses to start. I'm thinking it might be a problem with the cold start injector, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. Any of you folks faced similar issues before? Also, how did your mechanic visit go? Last time wasn't so great for me, and I'm looking to avoid that. Thanks a bunch!

Hey! Sounds like you're having a bit of a tough time with your Tarraco. I had something similar with my 2021 Seat Ateca.... it was acting out like a misbehaving pet. Anyway, funny thing is, the symptoms were quite similar to yours - black smoke, rough engine running, the works. The issue turned out to be a faulty fuel injector in my case. My mechanic made sure to diagnose properly cause the check engine light can indicate a wide range of problems and it's important not to just jump to conclusions. Post diagnostics it turns out, one of the injectors wasn’t delivering fuel the way it was supposed to. The engine was essentially being starved at crucial moments, hence the rough running and the starting issues. I have to tell ya, it was honestly a bit of serious stuff cause your engine can take some real damage if it goes undressed for too long. Luckily for me, my mechanic squared it up, replaced the faulty injector and everything's been right as rain since then. It's good you're alert and caught the problem before it got too bad. So yeah, there's a chance it could be your cold start injector. But get a proper diagnostics run to make sure it's the real culprit. Hope this helps and your visit to the repair shop goes smoother this time 'round. Good luck. Cheers!

Hey there,! That does sound a lot like what my Tarraco's up to. Sounds like my hunch about the injector wasn't too far off! Thanks for sharing your experience with the Ateca - tricky situation, but glad to hear everything's smooth sailing now. Just a quick question though, do you remember roughly how much it set you back to get the fuel injector replaced? Also, ever since you got it fixed, has your Ateca coughed up any new surprises or has it been behaving like a dream? Thanks again. You're a legend!

Hey there,! Haha, thanks for calling me a legend! Now, as for your question, getting the injector sorted did pinch the pocket a bit, but let me tell ya - it was worth every penny. It rounded up to €515, to be precise. Ever since the fix, my Ateca has been humming like a kitten. No more tantrums, no more surprises. Nothing to make me pull my hair out! That faulty cold start injector was indeed the villain of the story and now that it's been taken care of, I've been cruising in peace. It's been a complete breeze since the mechanic visit. The old girl starts smoothly, no more rough running or nasty black smoke. Once your Tarraco gets sorted, I bet you'll experience the same relief. Trust me, it's worth sorting out. Good luck with it!

Hey, €515 isn't petty cash, but if it means my Tarraco will behave like your Ateca post-repair, I'd say it's a decent deal. I'm glad to hear you haven't had any more problems, that's really reassuring! Makes the hit to the wallet more justified indeed. It's always good when you can get a niggling issue sorted once and for all, right? Well, I'm setting an appointment with my mechanic first thing tomorrow. Gonna stress on getting the diagnostics right before diving into the repairs, just like you suggested. Hoping it all goes well this time. Thanks! I'll keep you posted on how it goes. Until then, happy cruising with your smooth running Ateca. Stay safe out there! Cheers!
