Seeking Advice for Oil Pressure and Warning Lights Issues in 2006 Hyundai Accent Gasoline

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Metal shavings in oil

Oil light on

Hey fellow gearheads, I've got a bit of a problem with my 2006 Hyundai Accent Gasoline. Oil light's been popping up, seeing metal debris in my oil, and even had a warning light on my speedometer acting up. I suspect low engine oil pressure could be trolling me. Anyone experienced this and got a quick fix? How did your mechanic workshop troubleshoot it? Any insights would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey, ran into a similar problem a while back with my 2004 Hyundai Elantra. By no means am I a car expert, but I do know a thing or two about cars. When mine started showing similar signs, I took it straight to my local mechanics. Turned out, they found incorrect engine oil in the engine which wasn't suitable for my car's requirements. They did a complete oil change, and that seemed to fix the issue. All in all, that little adventure cost me around 175 Euro. I suggest you double-check what type of oil you're using in your Accent. You might have the same issue I had. If you can share your car's mileage and the specifics of the oil you're currently using, I might be able to give a bit more advice. Hope this helps!

Hey! I appreciate your quick response! By the way, my Hyundai Accent has about 42568 KM on the clock. About oil, I've been using a 10W-30 regular oil. But considering your advice, I'll recheck the owner's manual to make sure it's the correct type. You might have hit the nail on the head! Cheers!

Hey again! It's great that you're checking the owner's manual. A 10W-30 regular oil might not cut it considering your Hyundai Accent's age. My Elantra needed a full synthetic oil of a slightly different grading. The change noticeably improved the overall performance quite a bit. You might want to consider that for your Accent too. Just ensure whatever oil you select is right for your car based on the mileage and model. If the oil change doesn't improve things, the metal shavings might indicate bigger problems like internal engine wear. That's unlikely with the mileage you have, but you never know. You should definitely have it checked by a mechanic if that's the case. Enjoy the ride, and I hope you get everything sorted soon! Cheers!

Cheers for the great advice! Fully synthetic oil with a different grading, right. I'll definitely discuss this with my garage and also get the engine inspected as you've suggested. Quite useful this turned out. Thanks a ton for your help! Drive safe and take care!
