Seeking Advice for Malfunctioning Electric Passenger Seat in 2016 Volvo S90

Fault stored

Electric seats malfunction

Hey folks, I own a 2016 Volvo S90 running on petrol, with 187,260 KM on the speedo. I've been having problems with my electric passenger seat, and my car's system has registered a fault with it. I've had a pretty crap experience with my previous mechanic, so wanted to know if anyone here has dealt with similar malfunctions? Also, if anyone could suggest a mechanic they trust who has managed such issues, that would be really great. Cheers in advance!

Hey there, I ran into something similar with my 2013 Volvo S60, although it was a battery defect rather than the electric passenger seat. My mechanic found out that there were problems with the electrical system caused by the defective battery, which occasionally messed up different features in the car - typically the non-essential ones. In the end, my garage mechanic dealt with it by replacing the faulty battery and doing a full system reset. Mind you, it was a relatively serious issue since the faulty battery could potentially damage the car's electrical system in a big way. So it's important to get it checked out quickly by a reliable mechanic. Regarding recommendations for mechanics, I'm not entirely sure where you're based, but my guy did a bang-up job for me. Sadly, mechanics are a wildly varying bunch, with some good apples and a few bad ones. So, it's important to find a good one. Anyway, hope this helps, and best of luck with the S90. She's a beauty. Take good care of her.

Wow, that must've been a bit of a scare for you. I can't help but wonder what the cost was like for that battery replacement and the system reset? Do you remember approxily how much you shelled out for it? And fingers crossed, you haven't noticed any other quirks with your car after the fix? As for mechanics, I totally get your point. It can be a real roulette game! Would die for a good guy mechanic who knows their way around a Volvo. Oh, and I agree with you, the S90 is a stunner. Trying my best to pamper her! Cheers.

Hey, tell me about it, playing mechanic roulette ain't exactly fun! Anyway, the battery replacement and the system reset set me back around 290 Euro, which wasn’t too bad considering the potential damage if left unchecked. After the fix, I gotta say, the old girl's been running like a dream. Remember I told you about the electric passenger seat glitch? Yeah, it's been all sorted after seeing the mechanic. So it was definitely worth the peace of mind knowing all those hidden faults were addressed. Hang in there! With a bit of luck, you'll find a trustworthy mechanic who knows their Volvo like the back of their hand. And as for the S90—she sure is a looker. Keep spoiling her!

Hey, thanks for sharing your experience, really appreciate it. It does give me some relief knowing your issue got sorted out, and in a pretty reasonable price range. Given the severity of the potential problems it can cause, as you mentioned, I guess it's best not to delay addressing these issues. Here's hoping I have as positive an experience as you did! Also, your words fill me with hope of finding a good mechanic sooner rather than later. I'll keep looking around and ask for recommendations. It's fascinating how much one can love their car, eh? And yes, my S90 is my pride and joy. I've every intention of keeping her in her prime. Thanks again! I'll keep you posted on my progress. Cheers!
