Seeking Advice for Issues with Brake System and Warning Lights on 2020 Lexus UX Hybrid

Unresponsive brake pedal

Brake light not working

ABS/DSC system is not working

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

ABS warning light

Hey! I've got a 2020 Lexus UX Hybrid that's been acting strange lately. The ABS warning light’s on, the brake pedal is unresponsive, the ABS/DSC is out of order, and the brake light is not working. I've also got this weird warning light on the speedometer. I suspect it's the brake pedal position sensor, but I'm not entirely sure. Has anyone experienced the same issues? How did you resolve them and what was your experience with the repair workshop? Appreciate any advice you can give!

Hey there, had a similar issue with my 2018 Lexus RX Hybrid - same brand, different model. Let me start by saying I'd rate my car expertise as low - most of my experience comes from dealing with my own cars. Faced the same kind of gremlins - warning lights on, brake pedal mushy as anything. Turns out, it was my fault – I hadn’t hit the brake hard enough during engine start. Yeah, rookie mistake, I know. Luckily, didn't have to pay a penny as it was just a personal error. Anyway, could you tell me more about your UX Hybrid, like any recent repairs or service or other issues, just to be sure? Always happy to help if I can!

Hey, thanks for pitching in. Interesting point about hitting the brake harder during engine start – I'll check if that’s the deal with my UX Hybrid. On your question, though, the last service was done almost a year ago and everything was on point then. The odometer has clocked 198,481 KM since, and I haven’t had any major issues or repairs apart from the regular oil changes and a broken tail light that got replaced two months back. Now, with the whole brake light and pedal problem, it's been a bit bothersome, but hopefully, nothing major. Fingers crossed! Let's see how it goes. Cheers for the help!

Hey! No problem, glad to share whatever I have in my kitty. Based on your updates, it doesn't seem like a routine issue given the car's relatively good health record. Just make sure to hit the brake hard enough during engine start – it's a bit of a temperament thing with these hybrids, I reckon. Nonetheless, if it still persists, this kind of issue, especially with the ABS/DSC warning signals, could be due to a failing ABS control module too. But I'm just spitballing from my limited knowledge here. It's always best to let a professional diagnose the exact problem. Worst comes to worst, be prepared for a potentially pricy fix. Either way, hope it all works out for your Amber Beauty (yeah, just assumed that's her color 😀). Keep the rubber side down! Cheers!

Ha, Amber Beauty, indeed! Thanks for your suggestions. Pushing the pedal harder upon starting didn't really make any difference. So I guess, as you said, the issue could be more complex. I'll share your insight about the ABS control module with the workshop tomorrow. Oh dear, I'm just hoping it won’t be too heavy on my pocket. Well, will update you on how it develops. Stay safe out there, and keep cruising with your RX Hybrid! Cheers.
