Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Your story is a bit concerning, I didn't expect that the repair for this could be pretty hefty. I'll try to give as much detail as possible here. When I turn the AC on, there's no weird noises or anything, it just doesn't blow as hard as it should be and sometimes it won't blow at all. It's like it has its good days and bad ones. No error lights on the dashboard either. I serviced the car at a Hyundai dealership not too long ago, at the 35798 KM mark. The service included routine checks and anything extra if needed but there was no mention of an issue then. They advised me to keep an eye on it, but I guess maybe it could be the climate control unit like in your case? Anyway, I think I'll have to schedule a visit to my local Hyundai dealer again soon. Cheers for the advice, really appreciate it.
No worries at all, pleasure to help! Sounds like you’re having a right tough time with your AC. If it's not blowing consistently there could be numerous problems. It could be a faulty blower motor, contactor, or even the thermostat. But as you said, they didn't find anything on your recent service, so I'd be leaning towards the blower motor itself. The dealership would use a diagnostic tool to identify the exact cause though. No way to know for sure without running that test. Another thing is, did you notice the issue with the heating system as well as the cooling? Sometimes a blend door actuator not functioning correctly can mess up the flow of both hot and cold air. Obviously, every case is different. This is just a wild guess based on what you told me. Your best bet would be to get your blower checked out by Hyundai folks. It might not cost as much as my climate control replacement but expect a bit of a pocket pinch. Remember that going for those official dealerships may mean better service and they might be a bit more familiar with the system involved. Keep me posted! Would love to find out what the culprit was, fingers crossed it's not as expensive as mine!
Hey, thanks for the detailed response and the solid advice! You're indeed right about the inconsistency; some days it's just a mild hassle, and other days, it's a total bummer. The heat system is affected too, and it doesn't pump out warm air like it used to. Looks like you're onto something with that blend door actuator though, I'll definitely mention that to the dealership. I completely agree about sticking with the official guys for this job. Sure, it might be a bit pricey but I guess peace of mind comes with a cost, right? Thanks again for the help I'll definitely let you know how it goes. Your fingers crossed lets me have a glimmer of hope, hoping it's indeed not as expensive as yours! Cheers!
Hey there, I had a similar problem with my 2017 Hyundai Sonata. Seems we're in the same boat. In my case, it turned out my climate control unit was defective. I'd consider myself a car novice, I don't know much about car mechanics personally. I took my Sonata to a local workshop. The mechanic diagnosed it and mentioned the climate control unit needed replacement. Just so you're prepared, I forked out 880€ for the repair. Not cheap, but it solved the issue. Before I can give any tailored advice, I'd need more info about your situation. Any weird noises when you turn on the AC? Any error lights on the dashboard? The more detailed you can be, the better.
