Seeking Advice for Issue with 2007 Volvo V60: Unstable Engine, Jerking Acceleration, Stalling and Shaking

Check engine light on

Stalling while idling

Shaking while idling

Unsteady engine

Loss of engine power

Jerking on acceleration

Hey folks, I'm having an odd issue with my 2007 Volvo V60 Gasoline. It's not acting like it usually does. Check engine light is on, the engine isn't stable, it jerks during acceleration, stalls when idling, and shakes while at rest. I'm suspecting something wrong with the tank ventilation system but not sure how to tackle this. Has anyone experienced this? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. How did you guys get it fixed when you came across such problems? I'm curious to hear about your workshops' experiences as well. Cheers!

Hey, I had a similar issue with my 2005 Volvo V70. I'm not a car expert but I do have some experience tinkering with them. I decided to take my car to a trusted local workshop. As it turned out, hoses needed to be added as the fix. All in, it cost me 175 Euro. I'd recommend getting your vehicle checked to rule out any other issues. Could you share some more details about your V60? Mileage, recent repairs, or anything else that might be relevant? That info could help pinpoint the problem and get you on your way faster. Cheers!

Thanks for the response! My V60's current mileage is at 66461 KM. Recently, I haven't done any specific repairs to the car other than getting an oil change and checking tire pressure in my last service. I'll definitely consider taking it to a workshop and get it scrutinized properly. Your solution does give me some direction though. Cheers!

Good to hear! With the mileage and recent service you've described, it's a bit surprising that you're having this problem with your Volvo V60. But these machines can sometimes be unpredictable, eh? When I had the issue, it was around 100K for my V70, and along with the hose addition, they also replaced some components in my fuel system - kinda related to the tank ventilation system. Not sure if that's specifically your issue, but you might want to have that checked out. Also, do ask your workshop to check for any fault codes in the engine control unit (ECU). That could reveal some hidden issues too. In my case, it was a slow process of elimination and took two visits to finally sort everything, but it was worth it in the end and hasn't given me any trouble since. Fingers crossed your V60 will be back to its old self soon. Keep us posted on how it goes. Cheers!

Thanks again for the detailed response! It's interesting to learn about your similar experience - these machines indeed have their own minds sometimes. I will definitely ask them to check the fuel system and any fault codes in the ECU as you've suggested. A bit irritating it might be a slow process, but as long as it gets sorted out in the end, that's what matters. Will drop in an update here once I have news. Fingers crossed it all works out. Cheers!
