Seeking Advice for Idle Control Faults and Performance Issues in 2022 Gasoline Renault Arkana

Hey folks, anyone dealt with idle control faults in a 2022 Gasoline Renault Arkana with about 196k km on the clock? Had some unpleasant experience last time at the mechanics. Now my ride shows black smoke on acceleration, has an ON check engine light, she stalls or shuts off on her own, feels shaky and unsteady, jerks on acceleration, and sometimes wouldn't even start. I've noticed more significant power loss too. Would really appreciate your inputs and your mechanic experiences. Cheers!

Hey! Had a somewhat similar ordeal with my 2019 Renault Megane, thought I'd share. Sounds like you have a problem with the idle control valve. Looking back at my past experience, my vehicle had similar tell-tales - shaky ride, losing power, and reluctant starts. Just as you described, the check engine light was a constant ON. Turns out, the cable/plug on my idle control valve was defective. The mechanics advised it was a serious issue. Seemed like it was messing with the car's ECU and throwing the whole fuel-air mix out of whack, hence the stalls and black smoke. They had to replace the entire plug and readjust the idle control valve settings. It brought that silky smooth ride back and revved-up the engine performance as well. So might be worth getting yours checked. Cheers!

Hey there, thanks a ton for sharing your experience. Sounds like our rides have a bit more in common than I initially thought! Those symptoms are spot on with what I'm dealing with in my Arkana right now. Your solution definitely gives me some hope there. Hey do you recall by any chance how much the whole enchilada cost you to fix and fine-tune that idle control valve? Was it a worthwhile investment in the long run? Any subsequent issues cropping up since then that might be connected? Cheers!

Hey, no worries at all. I'm glad my experience might give you some hope. In terms of the costs, I recall spending around 155€. This included the cost of getting the brand new cable/plug for the idle control valve and fitting it in. Essentially, it wasn't just a repair job but a complete replacement. Consider it like a brand new lease of life for my old girl, hehe. And to answer your last question, it's been smooth sailing since the visit to the mechanic. That nagging idle control faulty was nipped right in the bud. She rides like a dream now without any problems. So according to me, it has been a solid investment in the long-term for sure. Hope that helps you out! Cheers!

Aw, that's just the reassurance I needed to hear right now. 155€ doesn't sound too bad for ensuring the ol' lass gets her charm back. The fact that you've not faced any problems since then is icing on the cake. Really appreciate you walking me through your experience, gave me some solid perspective. I'm heading to the mechanic tomorrow armed with your advice. Let's hope my Arkana's journey henceforth is as smooth as your Megane's. Thanks for the help! Cheers!
