Seeking Advice for Fixing Windscreen Heating Issue in 2013 Fiat Freemont Gasoline Model

Fault stored

Heated windows without function

Hey fellow car enthusiasts, I'm dealing with a pretty tricky issue on my 2013 Fiat Freemont Gasoline engine model. The windscreen heating feature suddenly stopped working and there's a fault stored too. Any advice or has anyone had this problem fixed? What was the experience like in the workshop? Any suggestions most welcome.

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2011 Fiat Doblo Cargo, so we are kinda in the same boat. As for my car fixing know-how, I'd say I'm in the some experience category. Anyway, I took my Doblo to my local workshop where they run some tests. Turns out my vehicle battery was weak and needed replacement, cost was around 290€. Not the cheapest fix, granted, but it did the trick. Just to double-check though, could you let me know the specifics of your fault codes? The additional info will allow me to offer more tailored advice.

Hey! Appreciate your swift reply. My Freemont's still fairly fresh with only 37664km on the clock and its last service was recently, so a weak battery feels odd, but who knows? Car tech is a mystery sometimes, right? The fault code I'm getting is B201A - "faulty windshield heating relay". Doesn't sound like a battery fault to me. What are your thoughts? Looking forward to your suggestions. Cheers!

Hey, great dialogue we got going here, huh? You're spot on with that fault code. B201A indicates a problem with the windshield heating relay, not a battery issue like I previously suggested. Having encountered a similar trouble with my Doblo, albeit with a different root cause, here's what I suggest you could do. I took a visit to a Fiat-specialist workshop where my faulty relay was promptly replaced. So, I'd recommend taking your Freemont to a professional, especially since you mentioned the car's been recently serviced and has less mileage. The relay replacement took me back around 175 Euro including the labor costs. While a bit pricey, it's essential for those chilly mornings, ain't it? Just to note: it's always wise to delve into the root of the problem, as the faulty relay itself might be a symptom of a more profound electrical problem. Hence, be sure to have your vehicle thoroughly checked. Cheers! Keep me posted on how it goes.

Hey, that's some pretty helpful insight, much appreciated! Based on your experience, I think taking it to a Fiat-specialist could be the ideal solution here. As you rightly said, better to dig deeper and address the root of the problem, rather than just fixing the symptom. Bit of a hit to the wallet, but totally worth it for those icy mornings! I'll book an appointment ASAP and will definitely keep you in the loop! Thanks again for your guidance. Cheers!
