Seeking Advice for Electrical Issues in 2011 Volvo XC90 Hybrid

Navigationssystem is not working

Hey folks, dealing with a tricky issue with my 2011 Volvo XC90 Hybrid. Lately I've noticed an overall electrical glitch, my navigation system has gone kablooey, and there's a pesky warning light on my speedometer that won't quit. I suspect it could be down to wrong coding but I'm stumped beyond that. Has anyone else experienced this mayhem and can shed some light on it? What did your workshop do to fix it and how was your whole experience? All insights are dearly appreciated. Cheers!

Hey! Your problem sounds crazy similar to a problem I had with my 2013 Volvo XC60 a while ago. Just so you know, I'm not a car whiz but I've got a bit of experience from fixing issues here and there. When this happened, I panicked and rushed my car straight to my local workshop. I thought it was a minor fault but turned out, the Control Unit was on the fritz. They changed it for me and that cost me a cool 1000 Euro. Expensive, but it sure fixed the issue with the system being haywire. Could you help me understand the exact problems happening in your car like any messages on the dashboard, the frequency of these occurrences, etc.? This info might give me a better idea of what you're dealing with and hopefully, help further! But your local mechanic or the Volvo dealer would indeed be your best bet. Good luck, dude!

Hey there! Thanks for the input. It's been super helpful. Every now and then, I have this rogue warning light appear on my dashboard—it just flashes, no specific warning message, and then disappears. It's very random, I'll say! The navigation's gone wonky too, always showing me off-road! I find myself laughing sometimes. As for the frequency, it happens maybe once or twice a week. It's not so often but you know, once is too many already. My last service was, I reckon, around 103,848 KM. I'll definitely heed your advice and get it to the local Volvo dealer. Cross fingers they won't charge me an arm and a leg, eh? Thanks again!

Hey, no problem at all! Glad to help. The random nature of your warning light and quirky navigation does resonate with my own experience. It doesn’t sound too frequent, but you're right! You can't be too careful with these things. My control unit issue was causing similar problems and getting it replaced did solve everything. Considering how expensive it can be to replace, I'd suggest you ask your Volvo dealer thoroughly before they go about changing it. Make sure they run all necessary diagnostics to confirm it's indeed the culprit. Also, don't forget to check the warranty - Volvo generally has good coverage that might save you a pretty penny. And hey, who knows? It might just be a minor sensor glitch after all (crosses fingers!). Either way, it's best you don't delay the trip to the workshop. Keep us posted about how it goes. Best of luck!

Hey! You're a lifesaver. Diagnostics, warranty, and potential sensor glitch - gotcha! Will be sure to bear these in mind when I lug my car to the dealer. I do hope it won't burn a hole in my pocket, will keep my fingers crossed for that. Take care and will definitely give you an update! Cheers and thanks heaps!
