Seeking Advice for Check Engine Light and Performance Issues in 2024 Seat Tarraco

Engine shuts off by itself

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Strong exhaust smell

Unsteady engine

Jerking on acceleration

Hey everyone, I've got a 2024 Seat Tarraco that's been acting up recently and I need some advice. The check engine light is on, it jerks when I accelerate, and sometimes the engine just shuts off completely. I'm also noticing a reduction in engine power, and the engine feels unsteady. Oh, and there's a strong exhaust smell too. I've driven about 97815 km with this gasoline engine. I'm thinking it could be due to misfires, but after a bad experience with a mechanic last time, I'm not keen on running to them immediately. Has anyone dealt with similar issues before? And how was your experience fixing it at the mechanic? Any advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey there, Sounds pretty familiar to what happened to my 2021 Seat Ateca not too long ago. I had similar symptoms: erratic engine behavior, puttering during acceleration, and an undeniable smell of exhaust. Our friend the 'check engine light' was ever-present. Turns out, the injection nozzles were the culprits. They were malfunctioning, which threw off the whole fuel-air mixture balance in the engine. This was causing all the strange behavior, including the engine cut-outs. Luckily, it wasn't as bad as I initially thought. The mechanics at the garage had to diagnose the issue, remove the defective injectors, and then replace them with new ones. It was a straightforward fix, provided the right tools and know-how were in place. However, bear in mind that injector problems, if left unsolved, can turn into major headaches down the line, potentially harming other parts of your engine. So, as much as it might pain you to see the mechanic again, I'd strongly advise you get it looked at as soon as you possibly can. Better safe than sorry, right? Good luck!

Hey there, Crikey, your Ateca experience does sound eerily similar to what's going on with my Tarraco. Blimey, malfunctioning injection nozzles? I'd never thought of that, it's bringing a whole new angle onto things for me. Just to be specific, do you recall off-hand how much you had to shell out to get the whole injector story sorted out? Also, I’m wondering if there’s been any other niggly issues with your Ateca since then? Cheers!

Hey, Yep, it was quite a bit of a rollercoaster trying to figure out what was up with my Ateca. But, once the root of the problem was found - faulty injector nozzles, things got much smoother. As for your question about the cost, I had to part with roughly 515€ for the whole fix. It wasn't exactly pocket change, but considering it solved my issues, I reckon it was money well spent. Now about any new sneaky little issues, I'm happy to report there haven't been any major ones since the injector fix. Especially the misfires, they vanished like pack of beers during a football match at a pub. It's been running pretty smoothly and just like it used to. Hope this helps. Don't wait too long. Cheers!

Hey, Your answers have really put my mind at ease. At least there's a good chance it's not something unknown. It’s a relief to learn that your Ateca hasn't been causing any grief after getting those injectors replaced. Thanks for the heads-up on the cost, I'd rather shell out 515€ now than face a bigger nasty surprise down the line. You're right, it's high time I stopped dilly-dallying and took my Tarraco to sort this out. One could really do without check engine lights and engine stutters. Thanks for sharing all this, I appreciate it. I'll make sure to update you all once I’ve got it all sorted at the mechanic. For now, fingers crossed and hoping for the best! Cheers!
