Hey there! Glad my info was useful for you. As for the cost of the whole fix, it did create a bit of a dent in the wallet, can't lie. But considering the alternative, I'd say it was worth it. It set me back by 695.00 € to sort out the defective Sensor Wheel on the Camshafts. The whole process involved some technical work like pulling apart the engine to get to the sensor and then replacing it. Since the fix though, my Mazda's been purring like a kitten. Honestly, I've had zero issues related to the Camshaft sensor, or anything else for that matter. Feels like I got a new lease on life for my car post that mechanic visit. Cheers!
Thanks a bunch for the info! It does sound like a serious hit to the wallet, but as you said, easier on the pocket than a damaged engine. Comforting to know that no other issues popped up for you afterwards. I reckon I've got no choice but to buckle up and get this fixed as soon as possible. Your insights have been invaluable, thanks again for taking the time to respond. Cheers!
Yo, I can totally relate! My old 2019 Mazda CX-5 had nearly the exact same problems. Just like your CX8, it was stallin' at idle, rough on acceleration, and sometimes refused to start. My check engine light was also on. Turned out, you're right, it was the Camshaft Position Sensor. This wasn't a minor issue. The Camshaft Position Sensor reads the speed of the camshaft and sends the info to the engine control module. It's all about optimizing the engine's performance and emissions. So when it's off, everything feels off, your engine's literally runnin' blind. Heading over to the garage, my mechanic ran some diagnostics and confirmed it. Sensor Wheel on Camshafts defective, was the verdict. He had to disassemble a part of the engine to access and replace the sensor. Good news though, once the sensor was swapped, all the symptoms disappeared and my car was running smooth again. So, don't sit on this. If your sensor's the culprit, it can damage the engine if you keep running on it. I'd say find a trustworthy mechanic recommended by people you trust, or if you got the skills, you can attempt to replace it yourself. Best of luck!
