Hey! Appreciate you taking the time to share your insights. Never thought about the waste gate valve, that's a good point. To give you a bit more clarity, my i20 is sitting at 104916 km at the moment. The last service check was about 6000 km ago, everything was running great back then, these issues came out of nowhere really. Looks like another trip to the local workshop is in order. Let's hope it's an easy fix and not a money pit. Thanks a ton for your advice, really appreciate it! Cheers!
Hey, no problem at all! Seems like our experiences aren't too different. My i10 had clocked a similar mileage when I started seeing those issues. So, trying to recall, beside the waste gate valve trouble, they also spotted some carbon deposits in the turbocharger which were causing those belching black smoke and power loss. If your i20 was running fine till 6000km ago, then a sudden glitch, kinda tells me it might be something similar. Sudden power loss and smoke usually screams turbo system issues. Maybe a carbon clean along with a thorough check on that turbo might be a good starting point. And oh yeah, fingers crossed that it’s not too heavy on the wallet. At the end of the day, it sure beats having an unstable ride. You've got this! Keep us posted on what you find. Wishing you the best, cheers!
Oh, there's certainly a lot to consider. Noted all those points. The carbon build-up theory seems plausible for my case. I'll certainly ask for a carbon clean and a thorough turbo check-up for starters. Hopefully, that would sort things out. Fingers crossed it's not an expensive affair. Thanks again for all your help and well wishes! Will definitely keep you guys updated on how it goes. Cheers!
Hey there! You know, I kind of went through something similar with my 2012 Hyundai i10 Diesel a while ago. I won't claim to be an expert, somewhat in-between (got some experience with cars, but not a ton), so take my advice with a grain of salt, yeah? The issues you mentioned make me think it might be a waste gate valve defect in your turbocharger. Saw the same performance decline and freaky noises in mine. What I did was I took my i10 to my local workshop and had a pro check it out. Turned out it was indeed the waste gate valve causing the trouble. Getting it fixed cost me around 860 Euro, but it was worth every cent to see my car up and running perfectly again. That being said, if you could share a bit more about your car's condition. Like, how many kilometers it’s clocked, the last time you had a complete check up, and stuff like that, I might be able to help you out in a much better way. Hope this helps good luck!
