Hey! Wow, that must've been quite the ride with your CX5! Your story sounds like the classic horror tale every car owner never wants to experience. I mean, an oil pump playing hide and seek in the engine? Ugh, no thanks! I'm glad to know replacing it did the trick, and now it's humming like a kitten, right? By the way, do you remember how much you had to shell out for this entire ordeal? And since then, did anything extra pop up as a side effect from this problem? I kinda want to know if I should brace myself for a big invoice from the garage (cross my fingers and hope not!). Cheers for sharing your experience and advice! It's incredibly helpful.
Hey there! Yeah, it was no dream ride, let me tell you! The oil pump issue definitely gave my wallet and me quite the shock. I recall the total damage came to around 755.00 € to replace that bad boy. It wasn't the cheapest fix but considering it completely silenced the engine noises and banished the evil oil light, it was worth every cent in my book! Ever since visiting the shop, she's been purring like a well-fed kitten - no weird sounds, no flickering lights, just me and the open road. I gotta tell you, it feels great to have the ol' girl back! Those pesky metal shavings you mentioned though, it's best you don't ignore them. The sooner you deal with it, the better. Don't want a can of worms to open down the road, eh? Best of luck with your CX7! Here's hoping your garage trip won't break the bank too much. Cheers!
Hey! Ah, the good ol' hefty garage bill. I think it's the universal bane for car owners everywhere, isn't it? But hearing about how nicely your CX5 runs now, I've got to admit that I'm feeling optimistic. Fingers crossed my CX7 dances to the same tune post-fixing! Thanks for your concern regarding those metallic demons in the oil, though - I'll definitely be addressing it with the mechanic. And here's hoping this whole saga won't have any sneaky surprises waiting to jump at me when I least expect it, right? Appreciate your insight and well wishes. Will get my bad boy fixed, and then it's just me, my Mazda and the open road! Take care and safe driving! Cheers!
Hey there! I totally feel your pain. Same darn issue happened with my 2014 Mazda CX5 a while back, sounded like a piston was about to jump right out. Your hunch might be right on the money - I had the similar symptoms, and turned out, it was indeed the oil pump playing up. The garage had to replace the entire oil pump assembly, and it wasn't a small task I tell ya! They removed some components like the crankshaft pulley and timing cover to get to the oil pump. Once they replaced the faulty pump, the immediate difference was noticeable. That terrifying engine noise vanished, and no more flickering oil light. Still, discovering those metal shavings isn't something to brush off. I'd suggest getting it checked out ASAP, as it was quite the serious issue in my case. Hope this helps, and good luck with your CX7, champ!
