Seeking Advice for 2010 Ford Crown Victoria's Uneven Ride Height and Bouncing Issues

Uneven Ride Height

|

Excessive Bouncing

Hey guys, anyone here had issues with a 2010 Ford Crown Victoria (Gasoline engine) having uneven ride height and bouncing more than usual? I'm thinking it may have something to do with an incorrect door contact signal, but other opinions and tips would be greatly appreciated. If you've had this problem and got it fixed at your local garage, can you share your experience and how they solved it? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2008 Ford Taurus, so maybe I can chip in some insights. Well, I'm no mechanic, but I've dealt with a few cars in my time. Turns out my Taurus had a defective cable/plug connection, which I didn't expect at all. Took it to my trusted mechanic and after some investigation, we found the culprit. Cost me around 155€ to get it fixed, but at least I got my smooth ride back. Hard to say if it's the exact same thing with your Crown Vic without more info, though. Would be great if you could provide details like recent work done on the car, mileage, exact symptoms or any other potentially relevant info. I'm always here to help!

Hey, thanks for chipping in! It's funny you should mention a cable/plug connection, hadn't thought of that. Haven't had any recent work done to my Vic, it's mostly been my trusty ride. It's sitting at 88518 km right now. As for symptoms, while driving lately, it feels like my Crown Vic is on springs, more bouncy than it should be. And when the car's stationary it looks like the right side is a bit higher than the left. No weird noises or anything, just doesn’t feel right, you know? Anyway, I think I might just take it in for a check. Cheers for the help!

Hey there again! Well, given that your Crown Vic hasn't done terribly high kilometers, it's a little puzzling to be experiencing these kinds of issues. But, no worries, we've all been there with cars throwing curveballs at us. Can definitely understand that "on springs" feeling. Been there, done that! From your description though, I'd strongly suspect that your car's suspension might be playing up. Especially seeing the right side of the car is higher than the left when stationary - a pretty strong indicator that something's not quite right with the ride height control system. The door contact signal theory is interesting, but I don't see an immediate connection with ride height and bounce issue. It's usually more associated with instrument panel malfunctions or interior lights not turning off. Again, not an expert here, just thinking aloud based on past experiences. Before you fork out any cash at a garage, it may be worth checking the car's shocks and struts as well as the springs. They might have worn out and could potentially be causing the excessive bounce and ride height discrepancy. If they're fine, taking a look at the control arms and bushings would be the next thing I'd recommend based on my past ordeal with excessive bounce. Hope this helps narrow things down for you a bit and saves you some potential heartache at the garage. Will be keen to hear back on what the actual root cause of the issue turns out to be. Ride safe!

Hey there you've been a real help! The detail in that answer is much more than I'd hoped for. Seems I've been barking at the wrong tree, thinking it's a door contact signal issue. Checking out the suspension system definitely sounds like the way to go. I think first things first, I'm gonna take a look at the shocks, struts and springs over the weekend. If I don't spot anything obvious I guess we'll be off to the mechanics. Thanks again for your input, I'll let you know how it turns out. Take care and safe driving to you too! Cheers!
