Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience, really appreciate it. Well, my Volvo has run for 166873 KM, if that helps. The last service was quite recent and no issues were reported then. But the sudden changes have been a real head-scratcher. I think I will consult with a mechanic and mention the Wastegate valve thing. If it can solve the problems and bring back my car's power, it'll be well worth it, despite the cost. Thanks again for the tip. It's given me a good starting point. Cheers!

No worries. Glad to share my two pence! Given your Volvo's mileage, it could indeed be a Wastegate valve issue. They are known to cause exactly the symptoms you're experiencing when they malfunction. Just a heads up from my mechanic, he mentioned that sometimes, it isn't just the valve, but the turbocharger itself. These two share a close relationship in your car's system so one affecting the other isn't unheard of. So, they might want to check on that too, just in case. Best of luck to you and your Volvo, hope she roars back to life soon! Keep us updated on the mechanics' verdict. We learn from each other's experiences, don't we? Safe driving!

Thanks a lot, really! Your advice has been more than helpful. Ah, the turbocharger too, eh? Sure does seem like I'm in for quite an adventure at the garage. But whatever it takes to get my old gal back in shape, right? I'll definitely keep in mind to mention both the Wastegate valve and the turbocharger to the mechanic. Fingers crossed it all goes well. And of course, I'll keep you all posted on whatever comes up. Here's to learning more every day! Thanks again, and safe driving to you too! Cheers!

Hey there, Had a somewhat similar issue awhile back with my 2000 Volvo S60. I'm no expert, but I do know a thing or two about cars from my years of tinkering around. The symptoms you're describing reminded me of the horror I had with my Volvo. Turned out, it was a defect with the Wastegate valve. Took it to a local workshop. The lads looked it over, started looking into the turbocharger system and they identified the "Wastegate valve defect". They took care of the repairs and the bill came to around 860 Euro. After the fix, it ran smooth as new, black smoke disappeared and power was back! Nevertheless, it's best to provide some more specific details about your beast, like its klms, maintenance history, or any previous issues? This information will give a better point of view for the right diagnosis. Hope this helps, good luck!
