Seeking Advice and Shared Experiences for Rain-Light Sensor Problems in '03 Nissan Primera
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The conversation revolves around a 2003 Nissan Primera experiencing erratic wiper behavior, suspected to be linked to rain-light sensor issues. A possible cause identified is bubbles forming under the gel pad on the windshield, which can interfere with sensor functionality. Suggested solutions include replacing the gel pad and checking the wiper system's motor and linkage for wear, as these components can also contribute to inconsistent wiper operation.

Hey! Thanks for the insight. The gel pad, huh? I never thought about that. My trusty steed is a Nissan Primera, 2003 with a gas engine. She's gone about, 132420 KM on the clock. Had her last check-up recently but this wiper issue sprung up later. Will try taking her to the local car junkies see if they can do anything about the gel pad. Cheers for the help!

Hey, glad I could throw in my two cents! Sounds like our rides have some miles under the belt, huh? Definitely a good plan to have the local guys check out that gel pad. It's amazing how such a small thing can mess up your visibility in the rain. Remember to ask them to also check the wiper system, like the motors and the linkage. My brother had a '02 Primera once, and the wiper linkage got worn out after about a similar mileage, making the wipers go all loopy. With your car being an '03 model there may be some wear, that could be causing your wipers to work inconsistently too. Hope you'll get your beast sorted out soon. Good luck and keep us posted!

Nice one! That's some great advice. Yup, you're right. Our babies have seen a lot of road and with age comes character... and maintenance probs, haha! I'll definitely have a word with the workshop guys about the wipers' motor and linkage in addition to the gel pad. Thanks for taking the time to share your brother's experience too. You've got my gratitude and my beast has got your hope! Will update you and the gang on any progress. Cheers till then!

Yo, had a similar issue on my '01 Nissan Almera, not exactly the same model but pretty close, right? I'm no mechanic, just a guy with a tiny bit of car knowledge. Real head-scratcher, that problem was. Turned out there were bubbles forming under the gel pad on the windshield, messing with the sensors. Took my ride to a local workshop. The guys there knew their stuff, got it sorted out for me. Replaced that gel pad and it was good as new. Set me back around 62.50 Euro though. What's the specific make and model you're dealing with? May help me get more details to assist ya better. Cheers!
