Seat Arona 2017 problems with the electric handbrake
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A Seat Arona owner is experiencing issues with the electric handbrake, which has stopped functioning. A similar case with a Seat Ibiza was resolved by replacing a defective control unit, costing around 1000 euros. Hey, thanks for your quick reply. My Arona has 98,765 km on it and the last service was two months ago. Exactly, the warning light for the handbrake comes on and there are strange clicking noises when I try to activate it. Your tip about the control unit sounds logical, I'll take it up with the garage. Best regards!

Hey, no problem, happy to help! If the warning light comes on and you hear strange clicking noises, this may actually indicate a faulty control unit. I also had these symptoms in my Ibiza and, as I said, everything was fine again after replacing the control unit. You could also check the fuses, sometimes this is also the cause. But with your mileage, it could well be that the control unit is simply blown. Let's hear what the workshop says. Keep your fingers crossed that the problem is fixed quickly! Best regards!

Hi, thanks, that's really helpful! I will definitely have the control unit and the fuses checked. Hope it really is just that and nothing bigger. I'll let you know when I have any news. Fingers crossed! Best regards!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my Seat Ibiza (built in 2020). I'm not a professional, but I do have a bit of experience with cars. In my case, it was also the electric handbrake that wouldn't work. The reason was a defective control unit. I then went to the garage and they replaced the control unit. It cost me 1000 euros, but since then everything has been running smoothly again. What exact symptoms does your Arona have? Is any warning light illuminated or is the handbrake making noises? I may then be able to help you in more detail. Good luck!
