Searching for solutions: Diesel Ford Ecosport 2018 with check engine light, power loss and other problems

Black smoke from exhaust on acceleration

Unsteady engine

Jerking on acceleration

Stalling while idling

Check engine light on

Loss of engine power

Hi guys, I'm having some pretty strange problems with my 2018 diesel Ford Ecosport. The check engine light is on, it has a loss of power, runs unevenly, jerks when accelerating and sometimes stalls when idling. There is also black smoke coming out of the exhaust when accelerating. I suspect it might have something to do with the intake volume in the engine? Have any of you ever had something similar and had it fixed in the workshop? How did it go and how much did it cost? Would love to read your tips and experiences. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2016 Ford Focus, I'm not a car expert but I would say I have some experience. At the garage, they found that the intake system was leaking. I paid 425 euros to fix the problem. It could be the same problem with your car, but without more information about your car it's hard to say. Can you give me more details? Hope this helps a bit!

Hey, thanks for your reply! The mileage is 71675 km and the last inspection was the previous month. No idea if this information will help. But the price you mentioned sounds acceptable to me. I will probably go to the garage next week and have it checked. Thank you very much for your help!

No problem, always welcome! With such a high mileage and without any similar problems in the past, it could be that there is something wrong with the intake system. The last inspection was a month ago, so it's quite possible that something has worn out or become blocked. As far as I know, the EGR valve can also be the culprit in such problems, especially in diesel vehicles. Have it checked at the garage, they may need to clean it or maybe even replace it. I hope this helps you. Keep us up to date and good luck!
