Stalling while idling

Hi guys, I have a problem with my Citroen C2, year 2005, gasoline engine. It is now not running as usual and shows some symptoms like black smoke when accelerating, constant check engine light, constant engine shutdown, loss of engine power, rough engine running, stuttering when accelerating, car won't start, won't idle and shudders when idling. I suspect it could be a fault in the idle control. Have any of you had similar experiences and can give me any tips? How was this rectified at your garage and what experiences have you had? I would appreciate any advice.

Hello, I drive a Citroen C3, built in 2007, which had very similar problems. I would describe myself as a car expert with little experience. The repair in my garage cost €155 because the cable/plug on the idle control valve was defective. After the replacement, my car ran perfectly again. To be able to help you more accurately, it would be helpful to have more information about your car, such as the specific engine variant and model. This will allow me to give you more accurate feedback on your problem. All the best,

Person 2 Hey, thanks for your tip. My C2 has the 1.4 liter engine and has done 85518 KM so far. Hope that helps you. The last service was just 2 months ago, and the check engine light is still on. Any other tips or things I should be aware of? Best regards

Hello, thank you very much for the additional information. There seem to be some problems with your C2 with the 1.4 engine. The symptoms you describe could indicate several problems, but your suspicion about the idle control seems plausible to me. However, be on the safe side and have a specialist read out your car's fault memory. This can really help with the diagnosis. I would also have the fuel filter and spark plugs checked. These parts should be changed every 30,000 km and could be the cause of your problems. Hope this helps you. Best regards,

Hello, thank you, these are really helpful tips. I will definitely consider reading the fault memory and also have the fuel filter and spark plugs checked. Hopefully the mechanic will find the reason for the problems. Many thanks again! Best regards
